The Atlantic Coast Conference has honored four individuals as recipients of the 2016 ACC Women’s Lacrosse annual awards, as voted on by the league’s eight head coaches.
Syracuse senior attacker Kayla Treanor was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the third straight year, and Notre Dame graduate student defender Barbara Sullivan repeated as ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Syracuse freshman attacker Nicole Levy earned Freshman of the Year honors, and North Carolina’s Jenny Levy is the 2016 ACC Coach of the Year.
Treanor, who is the first player in ACC women’s lacrosse history to earn Offensive Player of the Year three straight years, leads the ACC in points with 84 on 46 goals and a league best 38 assists. Her 4.00 points per game average is second in the ACC, while she leads the nation with 9.00 draw controls per game. The Niskayuna, New York, native was named to the ACC Championship All-Tournament Team after contributing four goals and eight assists in three games. Treanor is a three-time All-ACC First Team selection and a Tewaaraton Award nominee.
Sullivan, a two-time All-ACC first team selection and Tewaaraton nominee, leads the ACC in caused turnovers with 51 and ranks fifth with 2.32 ground balls. She is the backbone of the Fighting Irish defense that leads the nation in caused turnovers per game (14.05) that held its opponents to 8.16 goals per game.
Syracuse’s Nicole Levy has played in all 22 games this season and leads all ACC rookies with 62 points on 43 goals and 19 assists. She posted a season-high five points on three occasions this season against Harvard, Duke and Boston College.
Head coach Jenny Levy led North Carolina to a 16-2 overall record and the 2016 ACC Championship to earn her second ACC Coach of the Year honor. North Carolina earned nine wins over nationally ranked opponents, and is currently riding a 13-game win streak heading into NCAA Tournament.
