might get number 44? I doubt it was or ever will be used as a recruiting tool unless it is resurrected in modern times. I could imagine the team coming out of the tunnel in a cloud of smoke.zFirst the captains followed by a lone player/MORRis wearing number 44. The crowd would go ballistic with that kind of introduction. A little creative drama never hurts. Think about it and get it to Doug and the AD. Its money in the bank. If Doug can give George and Ryan a decent O-line the possibilities are sky high with the offense and that sells tickets.:p

44 is popular and legendary to us. Not to 17 year old kids. It would be a great thing for morris if they offered it to him. But kids these days dont like that #.

George seems to know a bit about great Syracuse RBs and wants to be included in that group. I say offer it to him and let him strive for the goal in style. We gave it to Rob Konrad. He didn't disgrace the number but he was far from the level that Jim Ernie and Floyd made of it. Not entirely his fault I might add. He was poorly used in his days here couchburn

I disagree. Look around the stadium at all the 44 jerseys. Everyone knows the number and after the Express was released every young su fan knows the mystique.

Please, just with a Wikipedia search a kid will realize that 44 is the most important part of Syracuse University football, maybe even SU in general. Kids will want to don the number if it is offered to them, even Floyd Little has said it should be used.

Yeah I mean after all, it's such a ridiculous concept to think that a kid coming to Syracuse to play tailback would want to wear the same number as the only Heisman trophy winner ever at the school wore. Not to mention 2 NFL hall of famers. It's one thing trying to use the 44 as a recruiting tool since its been far too long since there's been a great 44. It's quite another to offer it to someone who is already on the team - obviously he cares about the SU football program otherwise he wouldn't be there.

Believe me. I am a high school coach. Each year I try to give 44 to one of my toughest players. They never want it. Even after I tell them the history of it. They want single digit #'s before anything else. 44 is not a attractive # like it used to be. Maybe for a FB, not a TB. 44, 32,33,34 is so eighties.

It's Christmas Eve and Cali found us. It's a Charlie Brown Christmas.

Welcome back Cali. We've been wondering when you'd find us. Except for those who weren't. Cali back for Christmas is somehow appropriate. Nice to see you here.

Yeah, if this board had its way, AAM would have had 44 last year, he wouldn't have done anything his first year and it would have looked stupid. Same story for Morris. 44 should be used for senior RB's if anything. But I think it should stay retired.
