[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 4441864, member: 289"] I’ve decided to simplify this. The last couple of years I kept track of how teams playing ranked teams did and how ranked teams did against unranked teams. The latter was too heavily influenced by schools that set up their non-conference schedules with uncompetitive opponents. It also took too much of my time. I’ll stick to keeping track of how teams did against ranked teams. The formula is to give teams points based on the ranking of the team they paid: 25 points for playing a #1 ranked team, 24 for #2, 23 for #3, down to 1 point for playing #25. (A shortcut: subtract the number of the ranking from 26). Then you add in the net point differential of the game. Examples: Central Michigan lost to #12 Oklahoma State 44-58. The Chips get 14 points for playing the #12 team but lose 14 for losing to that team 44-58. Net points: Zero. I’ll still list them because they’ve played a ranked team but their point total is zero. West Virginia lost to #17 Pittsburgh 31-38. They get 9 points for playing the #17 team but lost 7 points for the game result for a net of 2 points. Let’s see who had the best result each week and who accumulates the most points over the season. WEEK 11 Alabama beat #11 Mississippi 30-24 = +21 points Washington beat #8 Oregon 37-34 = +21 points Arizona lost to #12 UCLA 34-28 = +20 points Arkansas lost to #7 Louisiana State 10-13 = +16 points Texas lost to #4 Texas Christian 10-17 = +15 points Texas Christian beat #18 Texas 17-10 = +15 points Purdue beat #21 Illinois 31-24 = +12 points Boston College beat #16 North Carolina State 21-20 = +11 points Central Florida beat #17 Tulane 38-31 = +11 points Mississippi lost to #9 Alabama 24-30 = +11 points Wake Forest lost to #15 North Carolina 34-36 = +9 points Vanderbilt beat #24 Kentucky 24-21 = +5 points Navy lost to #20 Notre Dame 32-35 = +3 points Louisville lost to #10 Clemson 16-31 = +1 points Mississippi State lost to #1 Georgia 19-45 = -1 point Oregon lost to #25 Washington 34-37 = -2 points Tulane lost to #22 Central Florida 31-38 = -3 points Nebraska lost to #3 Michigan 3-34 = -8 points Indiana lost to #2 Ohio State 14-56 = -18 points Maryland lost to #14 Penn State 0-30 = -18 points Colorado lost to #8 Southern California 17-55 = -20 points Baylor lost to #19 Kansas State 3-31 = -21 points Missouri lost to #5 Tennessee 24-66 = -21 points Stanford lost to #13 Utah 7-42 = -22 points Syracuse lost to #23 Florida State 3-38 = -32 points Comment: Now that we’ve hit bottom, there’s no where to go but up.
