Airon Servais: Patterns of Excellence

Maybe he needs to try something else for "on the field" - he's been pretty meh so far this season.
Poor guy was a turnstyle on Sat, dudes just flat going around him to get to Tommy.

I can't get past the fact he completed the Rubix cube in 38 seconds. I could sit there my whole life and never get it. That amazes me.

As for football - he's been a steady presence the last 4 years. He was awful on Saturday, but I think he'll be fine again this weekend.

Something I noticed rewatching some of Pitt game....2 of the times the DE for Pitt ran around Servais to sack TD Aaron looked to his inside at the snap as if he wasn’t sure that Elmore was gonna take the DT. Just that glance cost him the ability to square up to the end. So communication is obviously a big part of the problem with the line. If they don’t work on how to attack the “Jailbreak blitz” (6 guys)that both opponents have thrown at them this week, I am gonna lose my mind. No attempt to check down passes or adjustments to quick routes at all this year.

Didn't the ratings show that he has been by far the worst lineman. Like not even close, 20+ points below the undersized dude that came in to play full back?

This was terrible. One happened on that 4th and 3 near midfield, nobody was lined up over him, and
no one really around the G, his only task should've been the DE outside, who, BTW, two years ago had
10.5 sacks. How do you look inside first and be late getting out to him?

Curious - where are these ratings? I don't watch the o-line all that often, so I'd like to take a look.

Funny, rewatching the game AGAIN right now on the U, seeing multiple plays he gets blown by, on TDs blind side. he was messed up after he lost 30# for some weird reason and was then moved to center when cavanagh switched 4/5 players for ONE player injury last year. It's hard to get on the kid, his head must be spinning.

It was a mental error he is smart he will fix that

Where do you find those?

My nine year old has cracked thirty. I can't get under a minute twenty doing it the same way. Young brains are faster

You can't believe all the different kinds they make now. Pyramid megaminx up to 7x7

I think it was in the game day thread but I don't remember who posted it. I can't find it now so I'm wondering if it was pulled because it's from some premium service? Off hand I remember the order. Tisdale was a 70, Elmore was a 68 then Vetterello, Bergeron and Servais. Wish I could remember who posted it or where it came from.

It's in the article-Who'd have thought Servais would be our biggest weakness in Pass blocking and our Guards our "strength"?

I've always thought I was halfway smart, but I try that cube and I feel like an idiot. Your kid > me! I have no idea how or where to start. I am sure there is plenty of logic behind it that I'm unaware of. That is an amazing feat!

Thanks - if you stumble upon it, let me know. I don't know if 70 is good or bad. Assuming it is out of 100, which I would think is not great, but again, I don't know the full picture.

Edit: Someone else posted the link, so I'm all set. But thanks again!

70 is ok. If the 1st # starts with a 9? That player is likely the highest graded at his position.

Example: the 3rd highest Guard grade was an 82.2. Tisdale is doing well. A grade of 80 is not considered the best game of all time, but an 80 over all games is considered outstanding.

Thank you. That helps put it in perspective. Servais 40 is astoundingly bad!

Just a few bad plays/miscommunication can drastically drop your grade. A +2 is an OMG did you see that! Play. A -2 is a mistake. A zero(or 50) is you did your job, neither great or poorly. Here's how NFL tackles grade. An 80 is pretty good. (For the year). Only 7 NFL tackles achieved that, here. . Serv is normally our highest grade.

4'8" is a little short. At least I used to think so but then they started elmore

I paid no attention to anything all of season, saw that depth chart, gasped, and knew we were doomed. It's not so much about Elmore as it is how it reveals the state of other options

You just memorize patterns and practice. Neither of us figure anything out, just following rules and memorization. Home covid-19 school = free time

Speed cubing on netflix is a pretty good documentary believe it or not
