In the spring game, Long demonstrateed the ability to get the bubble screen out quickly, accurately and with zip. He can move a little bit and has a duel threat component. I think you have to start this kid.

He will get absolutely rocked. If he's the future, this FSU fire is a little too hot to baptize him by.

I don't disagree, and don't want a true frosh to get shellshocked...

BUT...

Anyone we trot out there is going to get rocked. I would strongly consider AJ simply because he's got so much more mobility than the other options we've got right now.

Oh Alin Edouard, wherefore art thou?

If there's any competitive spirit or balls on that kid he has to be kicking the hell out of himself right now. Saturday should be Alin's time to shine. Long is not near prepared and Wilson...well he is what he is.

Hopefully someone shocks us and we don't have to think about what could have been.

FSU guys will try to hurt Long just for something to do . This isn't some pattycake spring football game. Hand it off to the running backs and throw down field , that's what NCSU did with much success.

The only reason NCSU stayed alive was because of Brissett's mobility. Otherwise he would have been dead a ton of times. If you had a guy like Glennon back there they would have needed a spatchula to get him off the turf. Long might end up being our only shot at points since he is mobile, this will be ugly suffice to say.

Wilson isn't some mannequin like Glennon or Bledsoe , he can scramble. Mike Glennon beat those guys 2 years ago , by the way.

FSU is better than they were two years ago ... I am well aware of that. Wilson has looked anything but mobile. There is no way he can run like Long, Brissett or Hunt ... sorry but he doesn't scramble like that. Not saying he can't move but lets not make it like he can scramble well either.

Wilson can't run, At all.

FSU is scheming right now how to stop our Wilson to Lewis passing combo.

I think it's less about Wilson vs Long and more about how important the zone read is to our overall scheme.

Can he also get out and block on the bubble screen, cuz that's what they need the most!

Can he catch an end around WR toss in the endzone ... we need that too ...

If Long is the future at QB, he has to play. Not sure I'd be excited about a kid that the coaches didn't feel was mentally strong enough to face the best competition.

If he is the starter, I hope Shafer doesn't tip his hand until game-time as I would worry about Long also having to deal with the media before the game. Let Lynch/Hickey/Gulley do the talking this week and that's it.

Who even knows what our scheme is anymore?

If you ask me, run power football with some simple play action now and then. We don't have the personnel for the scheme McDonald wanted to run.

You and I are not Lester. Who knows what he will do.

I think Long is the future but do not start him this game. You risk confidence and injury. I say start him him against Wake Forest, get his confidence going, let the players earn his trust. This season is on the brink of being a bust so why not take risks such as starting Long. He is our best dual threat other than Hunt and he proved that during the spring. Give him game reps now and we'll have less to worry about in the future, just not this game.

I was at the Spring game and I don't remember anything remarkable about AJ. In fact only thing I remember he did was throw an interception to Cameron Lynch. Also, he looked really small.

Honestly do not get what people saw in aj during the spring game. Maybe I'm off (would love to be) but in everything I saw in spring and in camp Wilson is light years ahead of the others. Doesn't mean it stays that way forever but there is a huge difference between being athletic in high school and athletic against FSU

At the spring game he was only here for 3- 4 months. So he has had a full cycle of Spring and Summer workouts to get bigger. He is noticeably thicker now (not monstrous) and certainly not the tallest (#russellwilson #dougflutie) but what long was in the spring game doesn't mean he hasn't improved. Word out of fall camp was he was ahead in the race for the backup but then got hurt a little. The coach and team are touting him as being really good running the scouts agains the A team Defense.
