This committee responded to that game ranking Georgia number 1 over Alabama based on SOS and even ranked Notre Dame really high in the polls based on losing to Georgia at home by one point and having a strong SOS. The problem is that early in the season SOS is deeply flawed. Both Georgia and Notre Dame, and ND by a country mile, were ranked higher than they should have been at that point. At the same time the committee was reluctant to rank Wisconsin even in the top 10 even though Wiscy was undefeated. If I recall correctly the committee had Notre Dame over Wisconsin even though Notre Dame had one loss to Georgia, and the committed made that decision based on a SOS algorithm that was misleading. Notre Dame ended up being blown out against Miami and lost to Stanford and they struggled in other games. Wisconsin was clearly better, so I think a very strong argument can be made that the committee dropped the ball early on and rated Georgia and Notre Dame too highly- the committed linked them and then they both lost in the same week. To me Georgia is very good, but I think Ohio State is a better team. Ohio State played against more really good teams and just beat a really good Wisconsin team. Georgia just beat Auburn who has 3 losses and is overrated because a week ago they beat a very dinged up Bama team. If Auburn had played a healthy Bama a week ago, I think Bama wins that game. I also think Bama is better than Georgia if you factor in injuries, which this committee did for Clemson after the Cuse beat Clemson, then Bama is better than Georgia. Again, I'm not surprised that the committee chose the 4 teams it chose, but I think the best 4 teams, which is the committee's standard, are really Clemson, Bama, Oklahoma and Ohio State. [/QUOTE]
