Again I agree with just about everything you touched on. I am going to do a full post later today touching on a lot of issues but I wanted to f0llow up on a few things you mentioned. As I noted Salcido has looked like a different player the first two games. When he pulled the ball back out twice yesterday instead of going into the teeth of the defense it was a great sign. Shows how much he has matured as a player. Lane has also made a noticeable jump in his playing ability. Seemed under control for the most part and tested the water with some dodges and knew when to pull back and get the ball moving again. Him connecting on that lazer was a great sign, Syracuse has been desperate the last 2-3 years for some long distance shooting, if he and Salcido can continue to bury those looks it bodes well for this team. I do want to pump the brakes a little bit on Lane, he has certainly exceeded expectations so far but as we get into the meat of the schedule things will get much harder for him especially if Barber and Piroli are out for an extended period. Still his development is a huge asset and will allow Desko to redshirt Romano, O'Sullivan and Hutchings this season and continue to bring along the 4 redshirt middies who are struggling to break out. Going to touch on Evans a lot in my post later but right now to me he's clearly trying to do to much. I understand he feels the need to be the guy with Dylan being hounded but he needs to let the game come to him. Hill has the ability to take over a game that Wardwell might do once a year (see the UNC game last year in the ACC tourney) but as you noted he seems to get off to slow starts. He looked a lot better in the second half and seemed to be moving better. A lot of those goals were point blank in the first half but we will need him to play a lot better when we see Duke, ND, JHU etc. Thought the whole D played good, a few mistakes here and there (Ciferri on one I can recall) but nothing egregious. Communication still seems to be a bit of an issue and when SU did give up goals it seemed to be on issues with slides and defending the big little game. Thought we defended dodges really well but Albany isn't a great dodging to be honest with Lyle now gone. Both LSM's looked great and SU clearly has a ton of depth at long pole. Need to get Piroli and Barber back soon though, this team does have good depth but it can't afford to lose multiple starters especially a guy like Piroli.
