Anyone see the story where Collins, a highly rated RB from Florida, committed to Arkansas, but before he could fax his LOI his Mother took it from him and drove away. Apparently she is torn about him leaving Florida, and wants him to go to Miami. They are currently trying to find her.

Wonder how Gus would feel if Mother talks her son into staying home and going to Miami

I hope he knows he isn't requird to sign a letter of intent. That's more for the school's benefit than the recruit. He can sign financial aid papers and tell mom goodbye, if that's what he really wants.

He's 18 doesn't need a parent signature.

Exactly. And he's rated high enough that any school will have a spot for him if he wants it. He could just tell a school he'll be there in August then just show up.

Actually for a LOI, needs it till 21.

A. It's a crazy rule that encourages cheating a la blind side stuff
B. I'm surprised we don't hear more stories like this. There was the guy who committed last year whose mom was PISSED. Some of these kids don't even have relationships with their parents and may live with another family or extended family. I would assume there are numerous cases that they haven't filed any paperwork to make that new family their legal guardians.

That's still off at 18 you can sign it's just not offical with out your parents and the NCAA can rule in your favor which shouldn't be a problem.

The National Letter of Intent, according to the NCAA's official website, is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution. "If you are under the age of 21, regardless of marital status, your parent or legal guardian must sign the NLI in order for it to be considered valid," the website states. An earlier version of this story said McDonald did not have to sign the papers.

It just means it's not valid until a ruling by the NCAA it doesn't mean he can't sign

C'mon Coach McD make a huge splash steal a 5* from the Hogs! ;-)

Doesn't mean he can't still go to Arkansas. You don't have to sign an LOI to go to a school.

Sounds like it will be done tomorrow. Great story

@BFeldmanCBS
Law firm sent a release saying its been hired by mom of RB Alex Collins to rep family’s interests while she contemplates signing NCAA’s NLI

@BFeldmanCBS
Per the release, the firm hired by Alex Collins' mom was founded 40+ years ago by famed attorney Johnnie Cochran, Jr.

The NCAA wrote the regulations requiring a signature from a parent or guardian. Why do you think the NCAA would rule against itself?

That's pure BS and flies in the face of all state's laws regarding contracts. I'm surprised no one has sued yet.

Exactly. That was my point in an earlier post.
