I feel much better about him making it up to campus in January then I once did. I know Shafer has always said this to be true, but people were rightfully doubtful. Apparently the reason he had to go back were for academic reasons. Not sure of the specifics of Alin's case, but his HS had some problems with some others where their coursework didn't meet some requirements. Not sure if this is what got Alin, but I feel much better about him actually making it up, and this would still be the case even if we were to lose McDonald.

I also don't think he should have any fear of coming up and getting stuck behind anybody. I really think it will be a 3 man quarterback competition from Spring ball all the way through Fall camp.

Anyways just thought i'd pass along some info I was able to get.

Thanks for the info, anomander. Really hope the kid makes it here.

Me too. Quarterback is the one position where intangibles factor into your success so you never quite know how prospects will turn out, but his arm strength and speed are better then anyone we have up here now.

He looked really good on film to me, for whatever that's worth. We wont know until he gets up here and starts competing. Even then, you wont know much until he performs in a real game. Even so, I am all for bringing in talent at the QB position. Keep 'em coming.

Stronger arm than wilson you think?

I don't know about Wilson. Just from watching his tape i'd say equal, but I don't see Wilson as a serious threat to be the starter next year.

Assuming Lester is still the OC, do you think he sticks to the dual-threat type QB? Isn't the 12 sets that he previously ran more run first and play action shots down the field?

4 way QB contest will be very very exciting to see !

You're right there so I guess there would be a possibility. Lester has stated that he now sees why guys like McDonald prefer to have dual threat quarterbacks so it will be interesting to see the changes he makes to the offense, and the type of kids we recruit. Where Hunt, AJ, and Alin are all DT qb's, some of the guys they are going hard after like Sonny Abramson are more pro-style. I mean Abramson isn't anywhere near Tom Brady back there, but he relies more on his arm then feet.

Is this the 12th annual thread where we proclaim we haven't been this deep at QB in years?

You know how the saying goes...If you have more then 1, then you have none.

I wanted to reacquaint myself with Edouard's highlight tape and the tape does look really good... For high school. What makes me a little nervous is that his release point seems low. Not quite at shoulder level, but perhaps only slightly higher. One thing about Jameis Winston is that he has a fairly high and quick release. Now, if AE is every 75% of what Jameis is (on the field), then we are on to something. Having just been through the nightmare of last year with Drew Allen (Mr. Knockdown), we should be sensitive to this. However, let's see what he looks like for real (i.e. Spring game). It will be interesting and I am hoping that I am just over analyzing this...

You are bold for posting nuggets. Hopefully you won't be assaulted to give up the source(s) of your intel.

Thanks for the info!
