Rainbows probably have to set up massive temp bleachers at some nearby HS. Until 23. Drove by Aloha Stadium in 88 and again in 98. Impressive from the Interstate . Yes it’s called an interstate.

Anyone else think that Cav’s job was a wrap when you saw this thread title, or was I the only one, haha

Christmas Day, 1990, the defense put on a clinic, and Marvin Graves was showing that he was ready for primetime. That was 2 days after I found out I was accepted into SU, so I instantly became a fan.

And via the google, I just realized a 5 year old Bruno Mars performed at halftime? Am I the last to know that? It's ok, I'm used to it.

My family's old school 24" console TV died a few weeks before Christmas that year. My dad went searching for our first big screen. When he found the one he wanted he told the store it had to be delivered before Christmas day so we wouldn't miss the game. That was a glorious day.

It appears the stop gap solution is to play their games in Maui the next 2-3 years while the stadium is built. This was the site of the Hula Bowl about 15 years ago. It is a super ugly stadium in a beautiful location...but it will do for 2 maybe 3 seasons. Capacity is about 23K.

I did a quick look and SU has space on the 23 and 24 schedule for a trip to Hawaii if they only want 12 games. However, they could go any year as trips to Hawaii get a 13th game exemption being OCONUS.

I checked Hawaii's schedule. It looks like only 2024 is open for now for an OOC game.

Stop gap solution while the new stadium gets built. They are modifying their track stadium. I heard they are trying to get up to 15K seat capacity between permanent and temporary seating.

January 6,1968 Csonka and Cassata rip up the South 50-6 in front of 21000. Warm muggy night, lots of grass skirted cheerleaders (Hula girls)....fun night...that (Honolulu) stadium really was ugly. The termite palace.

You never hear about Rick Cassata anymore. He QB'd the teams with Little, Czonka, Coughlin and later had a nice run in the CFL.I did a quick search and this interview from this year came up.
