I thought about that a lot also, but in the end, I largely consider it a wash which is pretty fascinating to me

It was the other way around. KJ committed on 4/16/07 and Mookie committed on 10/16/07.

You never know how things would have worked out. Maybe part of Kevin Jones's development was due to him being granted bountiful playing time opportunities early on in his career at WVU. He played as a frosh, was a key bench guy as a soph, and a two year starter. Those experiences helped him develop into the player he is.

His playing time opportunity probably would have been different at SU. Not saying he wouldn't have developed--just that he might not have gotten the opportunity like he did at WVU.

That's the way I remember it. I recall a lot of Jones vs. Jones posts. Kevin was more the power forward type and I thought we needed a guy like that more. He's the one missing piece on this team- a power forward.

Gerard said Indiana and Pittsburgh were both a "close second." UMass, Seton Hall, Rutgers and St. John's were also in the mix, but some of those schools, namely Rutgers and St. John's, were eliminated because they wanted Jones to play power forward instead of small forward.

it wasn't jones or jones. it was kjones or kjo and since we got kjo early, we didn't take kjones later. he wanted to come here all along and waited until late to commit to wvu in hopes we would change our minds. once mook committed, kjones realized we weren't gonna sign anyone else. mook was considered a sg/sf while kjo and kjones (at the time) were sf's. we chose kjo as the sf.
