Hell just froze over.
" Syracuse is for real. Most folks probably realized that already. But any skeptics of the No. 1-ranked Orange probably don’t have many doubts about their potential after Saturday’s 88-72 spanking of North Carolina State. The victory came against a solid, well-coached Wolfpack squad that was back by 19,400 rowdy fans at the RBC Center. Dion Waiters scored 22 points off the bench and Kris Joseph added 21 for Syracuse, which was playing outside of its home state for the first time this season."

For what it's worth, this guy has been a skeptic from day one.

Does every single article have to state that it's the first game outside the state of New York. It's tiresome.
How many true away games have Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio St etc played? Not many more than Syracuse. Give it a rest already.

The only difference between Syracuse and all of the above is... all the above went on their first "true road games" and lost. Syracuse took NCST to the woodshed on their first "true road game". Unfortunately, some may not realize how good this team is until...... well never. Haters gonna hate. They will always find fault. After winning the National Championship, that will shut them up!

What's even sillier is that the 'argument' relies on the idea of BORDERS as being statistically significant. Duke can sleep in their own beds, travel ten minutes to play the Tarheels, and that's a road game. SU travels 4 hours to MSG and it's somehow a blight on our record. They don't even bother to call 'em 'neutral sites' when we're concerned. They're just "non-road games." Don't we have enough juice with alums at ESPN to get this taken care of?

Yup. Duke or UNC go to Chapel Hill or Durham respectively (25 minutes away) and they're "road games." And then they both seemingly go to Greensboro (1 hour) or Charlotte (3 hours) or Raleigh ( 25 minutes) in the tourney each year....with few writers mentioning the advantage.
SU goes to Buffalo (2 hours) or Albany (2.5 hours) in the tourney and writers point it out as unfair. Can't win.
My guess is that if some other NY school was as historically dominating as SU is in BB, some of this "road-game-rubbish" would go away. Say if the Johnnies never fell off too far from their mid- 1980's, Mullen-Berry form, or if private/Catholic Marist was like a a private/Catholic Marquette. But because SU is the only premier BB school in the Empire State, any game played in NY is somehow construed as a "home" game.

Wait until he finds out that 6,500 of those 19,400 fans were SU fans and that, according to NCSU board, it was practically a home game for SU.

Another gem by Jason King:

Herb Pope: It probably helps that he's 34 years old (or at least it seems that way), but Pope is putting up some crazy numbers in his final season at Seton Hall. He is averaging 21.9 points and 11.3 rebounds for the Pirates, who are a surprising 8-1 under second-year coach Kevin Willard. Pope has recorded a double-double in all but two games this season.

LOL.
