An amazing set of statistics

LSU won that game on special teams. In the rematch both defenses were again excellent but AJ McCarron was very efficient and the LSU QB was not. Both had a narrow window of opportunity to make plays and McCarron was able to do it.

The 1947 Notre Dame team had 47 players on their roster and 46 of them played pro ball.

Good stat but not truly comparable to putting that many in the pros today ... more colleges ... more athletes and while there are more pro teams the NFL ranks have not grown the same way the college ranks have. McCarron was a good college QB, very good ... he did exactly what Bama needed him to do ... not make many mistakes, with the tailbacks they have put out all he needed to be was efficient. It is very likely that the Bama/LSU draft numbers are not seen on that scale again. Note they didn't include FA signees and they still have one more draft class that can be counted against those numbers since there either true frosh or red-shirt frosh who may have been involved which still haven't moved on to the next level yet. It only includes the draft for '12, '13 and '14 ... '15, '16 are TBD since there are some who participated in that game still active for both squads.
