First, I just want to make sure we're on the same page when discussing the topic further... I was not in any way attacking you specifically, so please don't take my rant that way. I was addressing the Syracuse general public and your post happened to be the one I responded to. Alright, that said, I'll bite. First, quick mental match comes out to $2.48/day, $75/month, or $900/year - again, this is to sit between the 45's, in the 3rd deck, 15 rows up. I get it, that's the cost of cable. Not cheap, but by no means what I would consider expensive given comparison to other schools. Further, for a family of 4, I believe the endzone seats were $125/season ticket this year, so you'd be looking at $1.37/day, $41.67/month or $500/yr. So by not buying one soda at a vending machine a day, someone could literally have season tix for a family of 4 to SU Football. I'm not saying you drink sodas, or that you haven't already given up financial sacrifices already, but what I am saying is that if you're willing to spend $100/ticket off ticketmaster to take a family of 4 to 1 game a year, you can absolutely afford to buy season tickets. To the general population who believes season tickets for Syracuse football are too damn expensive... to be honest, the cost of season tickets relative to our competitors for similar tickets, actually mathematically works out to be quite a value for even the mediocre product we're seeing on the field today. You don't have to be a season ticket holder to be a diehard. Hell, you don't have to go to a game to be a diehard. However, if the only reason you're not going to the games, and live within 60 miles of the Carrier Dome, is based on the cost of the tickets, you have absolutely no platform to scream or shout from when Syracuse loses out on a star recruit. You cannot judge because you absolutely did not hold up your end of helping to bring that recruit in. Nor can you complain about students not going to the game. You are limited because you as a "diehard" are not part of the solution. Accept it and own it. By the way, why would you go directly to ticketmaster to buy tickets? For someone who may need to pinch pennies, again - not sure if this is you directly, but to anyone on the board in that type of situation, there are more than enough season ticket holders on this board directly that would be willing to help in some way and if you're willing to open up about your situation in a PM, I'm highly certain that most would at worst be willing to give you the tickets at face value. TexanMark - always has been able to find tickets in a pinch, or knows someone who may have some. This message board community rallies around all things SU, so I'm sure someone would be willing to step up and help. I'm not going to challenge anything about the SU basketball team and tickets, but I will say that for the Duke game last season, I looked to get tickets late to come up to Syracuse and tickets in the opposite corner were going for more than tickets in Section 302, Row A for FSU on stubhub right now. The Syracuse Crunch is a minor league team, not pro team, and average attendance per game is approx. 5,300/game (86% of capacity). The Syracuse Silver Knights is a pro team and averages around 3,000/game (48% of capacity). The Syracuse Chiefs are a minor league team, not a pro team, and average attendance is approx. 3,750/game (34% of capacity). Judging by the capacity, number of tickets sold and timing of those seasons, I don't believe they have a major impact on SU football attendance. You call me elitist, which is probably pretty fair based on my attitude, but I come from extremely humble beginnings. I don't want to type out all the reasons I feel I've earned that on an open message board, but I assure you that my elitist attitude stems from the fact that I've overcome odds every step of the way through life and yet, I don't want pity from anyone for having to deal with what I've dealt with in a short 32 years on this earth. There are worse stories, no doubt, but I can assure you my story would likely compare to that of some of the members of the SU football team that have hit the papers the last two years. That said, I have no connection to the University either, other than having grown up in Rome, NY. I went to Ithaca College. Hell, I live in Northern Virigina. I have no connection to the NY Giants, SF Giants, Washington Nats, nor the NY Knicks either as I never played for any of them. That doesn't distiguish bandwagoner vs. diehard. Hiding behind a crutch of "the tickets are too expensive" when in reality they really aren't, does impact bandwagoner vs. diehard.
