An idea that never got off the ground

Here is an update of a post I did a couple of years ago. I still think this would have been a good idea but it's in the rear-view mirror now.

In an earlier post I suggested that if Syracuse’s most important recruiting rivals were Rutgers and Connecticut, (and we are looking for a rivalry), maybe we should have a trophy awarded to the school of those three who wins the season’s series against the other two schools. If a school sweeps the games against the other two, they get to hold the trophy until another school does it. If they repeat or if no team wins both games, they keep it until someone else does sweep. It would maintain interest in the series and gain publicity for all three schools. You want to recruit in New York, New Jersey and New England? Win the series. These would be the results so far:

I like the idea of doing this with BC & Pitt, with a name that embodies the supremacy of that team in the Northeast. The winner of this trophy would be the KINGS of the region without question. Maybe we could create a name that tilts the old Big East a bit... The Power East Trophy/Big Northeast/etc...

Who has some suggestions for a great name?

The Marionetto​

Winning school adds their jersey/helmet to the puppet until they lose it to one of the others. Announcers can play with it in the booth or show clips of it dancing or peeing on the BE logo during crowd scene time when coming back from commericials.

We can't have a trophy game among Pitt, BC, and SU because Pitt won't be playing BC every year as we are Pitt's cross-over opponent. I wouldn't mind starting a trophy game with BC. NY-MA border war or something. I am sure we can find a common theme Coughlin Cup? or something.

We used to give the Orrie T. Scarminach Award to the MVP of the SU-BC game. But I like the idea of a Coughlin Cup.
