When was the last time we had NO drama or off-the-court issues related to anyone on the entire squad? So often, you have guys like Devo who would get into fights in bars, or Fab who had anger management issues, or a certain future NBA all-star who dabbled in retail theft, or Edelin with his ...whatever that was...or certain players who would let loose at Turning Stone the night before a game, or Mark Konecny or Mike Jones who come in like divas expecting to start right away. Or DeShaun Williams.

Not only do we not have any bad apples in this bunch, but it seems like we have only good apples. I'm struck by BMK's maturity, for example. He seems to playing the role of Kueth Duany on the championship team by keeping everyone focused and motivated. There's CJ and Ennis, who are just incredibly low-key about their excellence and are the opposite of prima donnas. There's Grant, the athletic freak born into basketball royalty who plays within the team concept and doesn't care if he starts or not. There's Rakeem, a McD A-A whose progress has probably been a lot slower than he expected, and who's had to share the center spot with two other players, and he has handled that difficult situation about as well as you can expect. Then there's DaJuan, another McD A-A who's dealt with two injuries and limited playing time but appears to be the team's biggest fan on the bench. Even looking down the bench at the reserves, how incredibly well have Gbinije, BJ, Buss, and Roberson handled the difficult situations they've been in this year?

There's not one me-first guy, thug, or irresponsible partier in the bunch. This is the rarest of teams: The workmanlike, no-drama, no-ego team. You've got to think that that's one of the most important reasons why this team is making the most of its individual talent this year and is functioning so well as a cohesive whole.

Great post. This is an easy team to root for.

What was wrong with DeShaun Williams?
