A more meaningful comparison would be to look at how UM, VPI, and BC initially adapted to the ACC. Moving between the same conferences would eliminate some of the variables involved.

Interesting article. But I'm not sure it's all that meaningful. Every situation is unique. Still I would love to see that chart expanded to include the jump to the ACC by Miami, VTech, and BC.

VPI and BC did very well in football when moving into the ACC. They played each other in the ACC football championship game twice. Matt Ryan was primarily the reason BC did so well. Miami on the other hand went backwards, and they have still not recovered to this day.
