I believe the new contract is good...but what the ACC gave away is third tier TV revenue rights. For example that means no one in the ACC can have a Texas like network and keep the revenue. Importantly, all sources to date, indicate that the Texas network isnt thriving yet...so maybe not a poor decision by the ACC. But, and this is a big but, schools like FSU or perhaps ND cannot pursue a third tier..nor can the ACC conference like the B1g. This does have a potential downside.
Couple that with fact that ACC does not have a contract with greater dollars than the other power conferences what does it do to potential teams leaving, potential teams entering etc.
The link below provides an interesting take around the Big 12 and centers on why FSU, Clemson, MD, and ND may be interested. Of course, if what I believe is true, academics and culture does play a part in decision making...only thing we dont know if how many dollars wipe academic standing and culture out of the box?
