I know this is going to come as a shock, but the guy from Texas thinks Notre Dame should join the Big XII. One of the reasons he cited is geography. Yes, north central Indiana is soooo close to Texas and Oklahoma. He also cited the great rivalry the Domers have with Texas. Who can forget all of those legendary two games they've played since 1978. For the record, the Domers have played a TOTAL of 32 games against teams currently in the Big XII (and that includes four versus WVU). The Domers have played BC 21 times, Georgia Tech 34 times, Miami 24 times, North Carolina 18 times and Pitt 67 times.

he is quarterback who's only time spent in houston was on saturdays

He totally overlooked the following:

UND has a huge fan base down the I95 corridor

Their love of NYC

Maybe more important to everything else, the academic fit in the ACC vs the state school & lower academics in the Big 12

He was totally unprepared for the question I was almost embarrased for the guy. He should've said the potential rivalry w/ TX. ND is no ivy league university and is not even a member of the AAU. TX, ISU and Kansas all are. The 95 fan base stops at the end of the NJ turnpike. Talking plain football I think the big XII is the best football for ND after the Big 10. The ACC is still backwater territory and if ND joins them they would just be dodging strong competition and that not what ND football is supposed to be about. Actually ND football is pretty much irrelevant these days and going to the ACC would not improve things much. These are the points I would have argued.

The AAU =/= elite academic University. I highly doubt anyone would consider Iowa State a more prestigious academic school than ND (or Syracuse for that matter) because of AAU status.
