A long-time, largely successful head coach who did a lot of good for his team for 13 or so years...and whose time is it to go.

Shady McCoy had 12 carries for 101 yards partway through the 2nd quarter. He was gashing the NO defense.

Yet they got inside the 10 twice and the first time threw and had a 99 yard touchdown return, and then later went empty backfield and Vick took a sack and they had to settle for a FG.

And he only got 7 more carries all game.

Reid needs to go.

Andy Reid > Paul Pasqualoni

He and McNabb got to 4 conference championships and a Super Bowl.

Pasqualoni and McNabb never lost less than 3 games.

;)

But overall agree, sometime a coach just runs his course. 13 years is a long freakin' time to coach any sport anywhere.

I could care less what happens to Andy Reid but who could win with the Eagles OLine? The entire first team is out with injuries.

Andy Reid is in charge of player personnel -- a OL is on him

Might be true, but Vick has become to the Eagles what Iverson was to the Sixers. Exciting players that simply can't win on a consistent basis.

Agreed. Especially RE: Jason Peters... he was out early enough to replace. The Eagles knew he would be out for the year since April... All of FA and the draft to go...

Reid has always been overrated, imo. Jim Johnson and Brian Dawkins were the reason the Eagles got to 4 conference championships and a Super Bowl. Andy Reid is the reason they couldn't seal the deal.

Donovan did what he could with Todd Pinkston, James Thrash and Freddie Mitchell... worst starting trio of WR's for a playoff team in the modern era? I can't think of a worse one.

Reid has had issues with abandoning the run ever since they got rid of Staley. Weird for an OL guy.

Last night was pretty tough as an Eagles fan. I just hope Reid (and Vick) are given a safe ride out of town and Philly can move on and rebuild.

Andy Reid is a much better coach when he hasn't lost four - four - starting offensive linemen - including Jason Peters probably the best left tackle in the game.

Once again it comes down to talent.

The Eagles have no talent - nothing - on the offensive line.

And that's the primary reason why they are losing right now.

Actually Howie Roseman is in charge of player personnel.

But, more important, neither Andy Reid nor Howie Roseman is an orthopedic surgeon, or physical therapist or witch doctor.

Losing four starting OL is death for any team.

Yeah, right it's easy to replace the best left tackle in football - Jason Peters.

It's like the old Steve Martin routine on how to make a million dollars.

First - "get a million dollars."

Ugh.

Reid is in charge of the talent, too. They've spent a lot of money in a lot of places and had poor results last year and this.

I like him (and I am a Giants fan; they've had our number). But outside what I am sure are some good rational arguments like OL injuries, it just seems a new era is needed.

Andy Reid was in charge for almost a decade ... a decade in which they never pursued a top notch WR (outside TO for a year or two)

Never said it was easy, guy. When you have an entire offseason to do it... you better come up with something better than Demetress Bell.

Eric Winston was a free agent. Jared Gaither was a free agent. Cowboys traded a 7th for Ryan Cook. Rams traded former first rounder Jason Smith. Panthers traded for Bruce Campbell.

Not saying they could have or should have gone in these directions. And, yeah... Peters is an All-Pro... but you can't sit there and tell me that when Peters got hurt in April, you gave them a free pass on the season.

Ugh.

the part that nobody has mentioned (unless I missed) was Reid moving his OL coach to D coordinator. Eerily similar to what P did with Deleone, which (in retrospect), marked the beginning of the end. it's not just that they made that decision...it that the decision is reflective of their being averse to outside ways of doing things and different viewpoints.

Nothing against Philly or Reid, but I think Vick might be the most overrated QB in the history of professional football. If he can't run, and I don't think he can anymore because of fear of injuries, he's basically useless. Never was a consistently accurate passer.

Not a QB that I'd want starting on my pro team.

Pretty sick of him. Holds on to the ball too long, can't read a blitz or coverage, can't hold on to the ball (all of which are magnified by the horrific O-Line play). I think that Vick is still the better player than Nick Foles, but I want Foles in for more than the obvious reason of let's see if this guy shows us enough, or anything to make us feel he is the QB of the future.

I do think Foles will be a good QB in the league. I also think he is a smart guy, and I would hold the hope that the offense adapt to more of a McCoy-centric, play action, quick pass offense that the Eagles have the perfect personnel for. But oh well... there's always next year? :(

it feels like it's mental with vick. the first year he played with philly, he seemed free to create and DID. starting last year, it seems like he's just overloaded. he's slower to make decisions, he's flat footed, he waits for the perfect play instead of using muscle memory to make plays. i blame the coaches for bogging him down and now especially for not adjusting as needed given the OL awfulness.
