Philbin didn't coach the headline is misleading. He didn't do any coaching that week, his "duties" were split up among the assistants and was away from the team the entire time. He showed up game day and just watched the game like a fan. He had no say on the gameplan, didn't talk with any players about the game or anything of the sort.
