At what point do we just ignore Bleacher Report altogether? I ask because I'm nearly convinced the vast majority of the writing on there is done by a blind man who just whacks the keyboard with his junk and hopes a semi-readable sentence comes out.

Edit: evidenced by the fact that this dude ranks Keith Smart ahead of not only Sherman Douglas, but also Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan and Wilt Chamberlin.

Another edit: and David Thompson is only #45? Wow. If Pistol Pete isn't top 5, I'll assume this guy has never watched a college hoops game.

One more edit: and of course, Pistol Pete is outside of his top 5. Granted, he's #6, but good lord. How can you possibly rank Laettner ahead of the Pistol? I have no problem with Lew Alcindor being #1, but in terms of most important college players ever, Pistol should really probably be 2 or 3, and David Thompson should be top 10 at worst.

In case people haven't realized it yet, Bleacher Report - aside from being one of the worst sports journalism sites in the world - intentionally specializes in big lists, e.g. "Top 100"s. They are easy, subjective attractions that people enjoy mindlessly flipping through, but that's not why they make so many of them. They make so many lists because it is a primitive & cheap tactic to dramatically increase their #hits & scam ad revenue. You'll notice that they do not use any sort of flash program or HTML interface to avoid having to load an entirely new web page. This is no accident, it's just a scumbag website.

The best thing you can do to stem the excess of awful sports journalism like that seen on BR is to diligently ignore any of their "lists", and the best thing you can do for your sanity is to avoid BR altogether.

What? No GMAC on that list,

Without Gary McNamanamma we wouldn't have won 10 fing games this year. Not ten. This list is the most bullspit thing I've seen in 30 years.

I ran across this listing of the supposed 100 most important college bball players. I realize that my deceased labrador retriever could write for the Bleacher Report, but I think this guy pulled names out of a hat or ranked the players after a night of heavy drinking (e.g., look where Laetner and Jordan are ranked).

The only thing that Bleacher Report does is come up with reasons to have you click on 10 or 20 or 100 pages for bullshirt lists of stuff. Absolutely the worst sports web site out there.

Your edits echo my thoughts as I was going through the list.

You'd be better off cutting out all the hard stuff and Bleacher Report. They have self help programs to get you off of both.

I am Bleacher Report free now for 2 years! I get more information from the designs on my fancy toilet paper.

Is it really written by a 9 year old?
