That's...interesting. Madden was the top announcer at CBS starting in 1981, didn't sign on with EA Sports until 1983 (84?) - no idea what "fading legacy" he was looking to rewrite, because that doesn't match real world events in the slightest. He was attractive to EA Sports because he was well known - he was in Miller Lite ads starting in 1980. Wouldn't shock me if its a comedy which is so far from real world events that its basically a completely fictional story with names people recognize. My expectations for this are really, really low.

The article says “unrecognizable.” I guess that’s true if you’re supposed to recognize him as Madden because he looks exactly like Nicolas Cage and nothing like John Madden. This would seem to be a ridiculous project but Bale’s involvement indicates it is intended to be a serious film so who knows?

it’s David O Russell and Christian Bale and Nic Cage. It won’t be a docudrama.
