Whoever is in charge of the entire process of the teams coming onto the field should be fired. Next luncheon someone please ask Marrone if he has any input on that.

We always came out on the field after the opposition, we came out to the band playing the fight song. Like every college football team.

Now the band goes to their seats. We play the Monday Night Football theme song (I think?) with highlights on a video board that's too small, with an audio that isn't loud enough. And then both teams came out of their tunnels at the exact same time.

Mickey Mouse operation. Instead of getting the crowd in the game, everyone around me kept saying "how dumb is this?"

yeeesh - wow, that's bad :(

I'm somewhat convinced that there is a challenge in the SUathletic department to come up with the most creative way to screw up the intro, with the winner getting their plan exectuted at the following game. It seems like they find a unique way to mess it up every week. In the grand scheme of things it's pretty trivial, but I hate that Syracuse looks like a Mickey Mouse operation at the start of every game - although I suppose on Friday it set the appropriate tone for the night.

su always comes out at the 4 min mark i think. i dont know if they can control when the visitor comes out. maybe usf was being jerks.

That's what one of the people around me said. If SU can't control when the visiting team comes out of the tunnel than I should give up, but I would also say we have to be the only school with a problem like that.

I'll settle for being the only school that both teams enter the field at the same time, just lose the NFL theme music we enter to as well as the highlight package until we get rid of our 19 inch bubble screen replay boards and have an audio system that no longer sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher.

Nothing more funny than looking around and seeing 35,000 people squinting at the same time looking up toward the "big" screens. They should pass out free binoculars to the first 30,000 people, "Take these if at any point throughout the game you want to be able to see whatever is on our big screens." I'm pretty sure the Marshall Street Bar & Grill has bigger televisions than whatever we have in the Dome.

(And I know, I know - big screens are expensive and money should instead be spent on facilities for the players. Just find it weak, that's all...)

The opening from two years ago was awesome...except for the fact the team always ran out in the middle of it. If the team always comes out at the four minute mark, that's even more bizarre - just goes to show how little effort goes into not looking like bumbling idiots running on to the field. Sadly at Cuse, it's none.

They really can't get much bigger screens unless they takeout some seating...this is a problem inherent with a late 70's designed Dome. Luckily they had the foresight to design boxes in the 200 level. The Dome was built on the cheap.

So take out some seats and pack the crowd in a little tighter so it looks better on TV. Two birds with one stone! Am I correct in assuming the dome roof wouldn't support hanging TVs in the middle?

i have questioned this and had a problem with his for years and i think its related to marrones inability to fire this team up pre game! the team has been making their entrance @ the 4:00 mark on the clock( too early) many times with the opposing team, zero build up...zero juice...zero coordination by the athletic department. sandman starts when they are already on the field and again running out with the visitors. its horrible. i know marrone is no nonsense but what the heck...is some smoke...some juice...the team all coming out together instead of 5-10 at a time that bad? these are 18-22 year old kids and our entrance reminds me of a junior high field trip...

Pack the crowd in tighter? If you've ever been to a game in the Dome with 40k+ in attendance I don't know how you can suggest that.

Well someone can ask at the luncheon but they won't tell you the results ... so don't bother asking about coach's response.

Been to a few, most recently the WVU game. It's not unbearable, and it looks better on TV and I'm sure to the team on the field. I'd rather be a bit more cramped knowing there is a legit crowd there vs having tons of open space in the corners and thinking how pathetic it looks.

I was talking more from the perspective selling more seats in 3 of the 4 bald corners that show up for most games by taking away from 1.

Fair enough. They could actually use an empty corner and put in a huge screen and maybe hook it up to an XBOX or PS3 and have fans playing throughout TOs so the SU coaches can get an idea of how to call a game and manage the clock.

I like this better than the kiss cam. You've got my vote.

Regretting buying those seasons tix next to your sister, Imperial?

HA! Nicely played sir.

Let's just say during a game I'm more in the mood to hear Metalcore vs Sixpence None the Richer (don't bust my balls, I had to look that up). My wife doesnt even want to sit near me when we're playing poorly.

I rewatched 'The U' recently and noted how back when he took over the program Howard Schnellenberger was instrumental in developing the smoke entrance. Guy had an innate knowledge of how to use every instrument to motivate his team and create a great atmosphere, which sure as hell ain't easy to do in Miami, where sports atmospheres go to die.

What's particularly frustrating is that we've seen SU put on a good show, like this year's Midnight Madness. They just can't seem to be bothered most of the time.

As my buddy said the first time they pulled that goofy move at the Wake game, "You can't play Monday Night Football music at the start of a Syracuse game. They don't play the Hangin' With Mr. Cooper song at the beginning of Family Matters."

Who is producing these events? Is there any oversight for Mr. Excitement?

Seriously, is there an e-mail contact for this stuff? Because the atmosphere at football and basketball games is horrible. It truly lessens my enjoyment of the games (and Friday's game was plenty unenjoyable without their shenanigans).

I think they could make them a little larger by placing them in front of the vents - the one in the east end zone is currently wedged in between the vents, but the one in the northwest corner has advertising covering a vent.

Also, it may be the case that they're manufacturing such light screens these days that they could suspect a four-sided one at midfield where the superfluous American flags hang right now.

Or just spring for four new screens and put one into each corner - they'd be the same size as the current ones, but one would be closer to everyone.

Strange thing is, I think they put a lot of thought into these changes for football. What I fear is that they have some focus group who is saying they love the new way we come onto the field. Focus group of people who hate marching bands, college football traditions, and sit in Section 314 or 328 so they can actually see what's on the replay screen. Maybe that's where the speakers are too.

It wasn't quite as good as one of the recent years when they did the SU historical tribute (which was well put together) and the team ran out onto the field right in the middle of it. Wait...what..should...I...be...looking...at?

Here's another thought on tv screens, replace all of the seating in the Dome with airline seats with a tv in the headrest of each one, equipped with DirectTV. That way, if the SU game sucks, you can watch something else. Make the stadium atmosphere like a BWW or any other sports bar.

One word: cupholders.

That's why we sit in the front row of the upper deck now. It's much more awkward to spill the beer on someone sitting right in front of you than it is to spill it on, say, the section below you. Chances are they'll just send up security and avoid the conflict altogether.
