SU appears firmly in the mix for the 6-1 CB from Illinois. Decommitted from Michigan. Being recruited by both Shafer and Wheatley. Took this from a free ND board:

"Anthony Standifer, CB, 6-1, 180, Crete-Monee High School, Crete, IL was originally slated to take an unofficial visit to Notre Dame last summer but that visit never happened. He visited Ann Arbor the day before and committed to the Wolverines during that visit. Standifer has recently decommitted from Michigan and is no longer considering them. He is currently reviewing his options and Notre Dame is in the mix.

“I just wanted to make a better decision,” explained Standifer. “I’ve been talking to Illinois, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Minnesota and Boise State. I think schools have been waiting for my senior tape and I just finished that, but clips were missing. I still have it on YouTube, but there will be another one.”

Here's some junior film:

Would be a nice late addition to this class.

That would be a huge get for us. Standifer could start from day 1 IMO

Anyone know why he de-committed from Michigan?

While I don't know, I DO know that he achieved a 22 score on his ACT, which is supposed to be good enough for him to qualify.

So at least academics don't appear to be a problem.

I believe it 'was a mutual departure' ... I think Michigan is going after bigger fish (ala why they stopped pursuing wayne morgan after standifer commited originally ... would be great and ironic if they both end up orange)

Standifer is in the 2012 class.

Standifer is in the 2012 class.
Oops. I should have said that standifer would lessen the need for CBs in2013.:bat: My thinkis that Corners and big uglies will be the focus next year. And anyone with elite speed.

If he was qualified for Michigan, he's qualified for Syracuse.

Why is it when a kid decommits from Michigan it's basically because Michigan didn't want him? You guys need to look around. Kids all over the country decomit from high profile programs all the time. Florida just lost the #1 rated back - he changed his mind.

From what I've gathered, this kid took one unnofiffical visit in June and committed to Michigan. Now he's decided he shouldn't have done that so fast without looking at other schools. He'll take 5 official visits now; lets hope we're one of them and that Michigan's loss is our gain.
