Seems like the actions at Pennis State & Wee Willie Winkie put the kabosh on conference expansion. Anyone heard anything new?

I haven't heard anything.

If West Virginia get out before Syracuse and Pittsburgh, I'll be irate though. I know that much.:p

Without insane amount of $ or WVU winning incourt, looks like 2013.

Con USA schools have to have at least a year notice or exit fee 10 times as much.

Boise, AF, BYU will be finding spots for other sports.(putting non fb together?) and BYU has TV short term issues.

What is their current exit fee? Would they be in a similiar situation as us going to the ACC, that they'd recoup an increase in their exit fees if they moved to the BE sooner?

I have no idea how much CUSA schools make, but I'd think going from non-BCS to BCS would bring in a bigger windfall than from one BCS conference to another (although the BE may be an exception with the low payouts currently in place).

...doesnt seem much happening with BE expansion...seems like its a wait for BYU and then maybe western division will start coming together..as of now...nothing noted

I would think that BYU, no longer in a conference, could join the BE in football next season without a problem. They are ideally positioned to do this.

Last I knew, Conference USA was planning on holding its members leaving for the Big East to their league bylaws,so schools from that conference like UCF, SMU and Houston could not join until 2013. Not a lot of hope for early admission for those folks.

The Mountain West conference lets members leave without a year's notice but at the cost of a $5 million exit fee (or double the revenues they earned their last season in the league, whichever is greater). They lose the revenues they earned their last season in the league no matter what.

Given Boise is out of contention for a BCS bid, and Air Force never was in contention, the $5 million exit fee is not a huge amount of money to give up to get more money down the road and an easier path to a BCS bowl. It would make sense for these schools to start league play in the BE (football only) in 2012.

Looks like our best chance to get into the ACC next season is to hope the Big East scores the Western Hat Trick and lands BYU, Boise State and Air Force, all whom would probably start next season.

BYU has a % of games locked in with ESPN till 2018 and has to work out recasting their games on their own channel.

From memory: $1 million or $10 million if they leave right away.
