Final Downstate 27 Upstate 23 - came down to last 3 min - good balance between teams this year. Better game than most high school games - lots of players moving on to play in college. My buddy a high school coach said lots of stuff going on behind the scenes - they had 6 statewide combines - official/unofficial like in that the coaches association runs them - about 500 kids tested statewide about 150ish soph/juniors brought this morning to ESM (best of best) and invited to attend game today.

Idea is to get more football players scholarships by testing and raising the profile with an all star game of the 30k plus varsity kids that high school football in NY - lots of kids but not lots of scholarships.

The high school coaches love it that they get to coach in the Dome at Syracuse - they switch it up every year because a lot of these coaches will never get to coach on the college level.  Not only do the players love it, but the coaches do too.

Mainly Syracuse University and Coach Marrone get all the credit behind the scenes.  Most HS coaches want to have a good relationship with the University and want very much for Marrone to stay here for the long term.  He mentioned it is a refreshing night/day difference from Grob who didn't give a crap (his words not mine).

Game was actually fun to watch live.
