Drivers:
Adams Speedline F11
TaylorMade Burner Superfast TP 2.0
TaylorMade R11 TP
Cleveland Classic 270

Shafts:
Fubuki Alpha 70 Extra Stiff
Accuflex Assassin ll A2 Extra Stiff

Anyone play these? How do you like them.

I was playing Friday with this guy who was bombing ot by me by a good 35yards off the tee but I was about 15yards longer than him with irons. I realized its time for a new driver.

How old is your current driver? That certainly could be part of the problem. I would suggest getting professionally fit for a new driver. There are close to 4000 different driver, loft, lie, and shaft combos out there.

I currently play the new RBZ with a Mitsubishi D'amina X in there. I love it, but it might not be the club for you.

Thanks my Driver is about 10-12 years old which is definitally the problem. I know what I need as far as shafts. Xtra stiff low torque (less than 3) mid to high kickpoint for lower launch. I'm not sure about the heads but lighter is better I prefer something that can't be overswung. I don't have to time to be fit and I'll probably try to pick up something used once I know what I want so I wouldn't like to waste some guys time hitting all the clubs and stuff.
My dad has an Adams Speedline, model before the F11 and he loves it. I like the feel but it has a stiff grafoloy something or other shaft that doesn't stand up to my swing.

12 years old??? Man, it's definitely time for an upgrade. Here's my advice. Go to a golf galaxy and have them fit you. It's free and will take 30 minutes tops. Write down the specs, and order a used one somewhere, or get last year's model.

You'd be surprised about shaft stiffness. Today's drivers are designed to launch the ball with less spin. If you don't have a swing speed of 105+ you don't need an X, period. You'll hit low bullets that don't carry for squat and end up in the right rough.

It's all about carry today, which is much different than 10 to 15 years ago.

Thanks. Last time I was tested my swing speed with a 5i was 100+ and I hit my irons as far as ever. I'll have to check out where the closest golf gallaxy is that's a great idea.

So I picked up an Adams Speedline F11 with that Accuflex Assassin ll A2 Extra Stiff.
It was on Ebay cheep around 6o with shipping and I got tired of waiting. Feels great to swing but I haven't hit anything with it yet.
I'm heading to the beach for a week Friday and the place we stay has a nice little 9 hole course with 5 holes I can hit driver on although I usually only do on 3 so I'll get some use out of it next week.

I'm also playing the new RBZ stage 2 and loving it. Sounds crazy but you really to need to get a new driver every 3/4 years. That's how good these weapons have become

the reality is that people should be hitting whatever they can hit the fairway with and skip trying to find the longest hitting clubs. the young kids are hitting it a mile now but the avg big hitter is still only pushing 240-250 and carrying more like 220..

getting fitted with the right irons will take off more strokes then hitting 10-15 yds further off the tee.

You post has its merrits for sure especially for the average golfer. I would bet you that playing by the rules for real 95% of golfers in the world would have a hard time breaking 90 on a regular basis or at all. I mean no mulligans, actually play OB, latteral hazards, water hazarsds correctly, play the ball where it lies, no gimmies, only 14 clubs and all legal equipment on fairly challanging course.

I also think you are correct in saying that most players don't really carry the ball that far, I'd also say most players over estimate how far they actually hit the ball bit all the GPS yardage things are helping guys realize that. If you really want to help your swing get a straight forged blade nothing more lofted than a 5i, put a full cord grip on it, hit it at the driving range withouta glove until you can repeat a swing that doesn;t give you blisters and the ball feels like butter coming off the face. Getting fitted for "helpful" irons may help your score to start out but it will not help your swing and in fact will most likely be bad for it.

OK in a week on vacation I got in 3.5 rounds and a Captain and crew with the locals on the Giolf course thats a freebe where I vacation. Its not long from the regular tee's but its still exacting from the tee often with trouble on both sides. From the Blacks its 7000+ which plays longer because the long holes are into the prevailing wind. Still there are 5 par 4's that I can't hit driver on unless you bunt ortry to carry 260+.

I didn't bring my old driver because I wanted to force myself to hit the new one. There where 9 holes that I hit driver every round. carry distance seemed very linked to wind and temperature which veried greatly while I was there so I never got a great idea on an unfamiliar course of what my carry distance was. Burmuta grass on a soft course by the ocean was often all carry but some days wI was a club long woth the irons and others a club short hitting the same way. I think it was a temp humidity thing. Anyways At first I struggled with my new driver but by weeks end I was loving it. The best thing is that as stiff as the shaft is its very hard to loose right if you make a fairly fundamental swing no matter how hard you go at it. The only time I soured one right was week ass swings into the wind. What I love is that its easy to really swing away with a slightly openned face and let it cut while at the same time I have to be causcious not to roll my wrists early because it wants to go left a hair if anything.
