Anyone else hate super bowl parties?

I myself cant stand them. Having attended a few back before I started just staying home I always detested going over someones house that we were invited too. It quickly turned into a sideshow Bob episode where the commercials/peoples numbers/the national anthem and the halftime show became more important than the game.

Anyone else hate them too?

ugh.. Apparently it's at my house this year. I guess one of our friends won a party package from a pizza place or something, the wife said they could do it at our house. My wife has a friend who is a 49er fan.. And when I say fan, I mean she knows nothing about football, and just screams alot. This girl will be at my house Sunday.

Funny story about fans who cant name 3 players.. Have a buddy who is a Pats fan. Talked a ton of last year before the super bowl.. It was getting real bad about 2 hours before kick off. I said "hey Joe, name 3 players not named Brady, or Welker" he gave me Gronk and gave up. Then he tried the whole "Lets hear you name 3 players on the Giants" bad move Joe, bad move. I named a Giants player for everyone in the bar, tapping them on the shoulder as I did my rounds. I figure there was about 30 people there. Got a huge cheer when I was done, and Joe turned a little red.

Worst for me is the fan who you didn't know was a fan who starts talking crap after "their team" beat yours.

If you aren't going to talk crap before a game, don't even try it after.

One of my roommates was a self proclaimed giants fan. On Sunday afternoons, after nursing our hangovers, football would start and often the giants were on tv. So many times he would leave right before the game starts for whatever reason, and not watch any of it. It didn't make any sense to me.

Back to the OP, I hate Super Bowl parties. I just want to watch the freakin' game (and keep track of my boxes). Fortunately, this year my daughter's boyfriend (Iggs fan, but I like him anyway) is coming over, and that's it (besides wife and daughters - and they KNOW not to yak).

I had a pre-Super Bowl party last year. Food, drinks, people over staring at 1:00 and they had to leave by 5:30 so I could focus on Big Blue.l when it mattered.

Actually worked out well.
