I was flipping around to other games yesterday, like I always do, and came across The Citadel vs South Carolina. When the SU game got out of hand, I began watching this game more because it was a close game. It ended up being one of those upsets that just made you feel warm inside.

In particular, The Citadel, using a wishbone option, had a player by the name of Tyler Renew who just gashed the Gamecock defense from the FB position. Big, strong, 220 pound Junior, who apparently only played in 1 of the first 4 games this year for the Bulldogs. Furthermore, the kid used to be a peanut vendor in the Gamecocks stadium. Coming out of HS, he asked for a preferred walk-on spot at South Carolina and was turned down. This, even though he was a two-time all-state HS football player in the state and an all-around athlete. The kid loved South Carolina. He ended up with more yards than Nick Chubb or Leonard Fournette had against the Gamecocks!

A feel-good game for the kid and the team. Love games and players like this even on a day that SU loses. I'll be following them as they work through the FCS playoffs.

Missed it - sounds fun though. SEC seems to get one of these a year.

I love that they have peanut vendors. Add it to the list, Coyle.
