Yeah, the area directly around the Morse stop has always been sketchy, but honestly the area around most of the red line stops north of Addison is pretty sketchy.

I don't know of many shootings in the immediate past. But the violence does seem to flare up there every few years. last fall there was a couple shootings, including a tragic one where a 64 year old teacher was killed in the crossfire early in the evening.

The timing and nature of that one really shook the neighborhood.

But I've been in this neighborhood for 14-years and overall it keeps getting better.

Over the past seven or eight years Loyola has done a great job of working with local developers and police to bring in business and address some of the other crime issues.
I haven't agreed with everything they've done but overall I feel l like they are really building a solid infrastructure for the community without compromising the affordability and  diversity that make this neighborhood so great.
