Sinking feeling in there stomach, that thought "oh well maybe we can turn it around" but right after thinking that you let out a big fat sigh? Shafer needs to show us he is able to make in game adjustments.

Take a step back and think in your head...

What if we lost to Villanova? with Ville, Clemson, ND, and FSU on board...

This is going to feel like ages until we step on that field against CMU. We must make amends for that performance. Any chance we have home field @ CMU?

The optimistic side of me says anything can happen, the pessimistic side still remembers Friday's game.

i do, and it is scary---shafer needs to act soon---with calling out the coaches and then PERSONALLY , calling out the players---getting them to step up--and not read the press clippings about how good they are---novas hc said it best--

I'm going to get a lot of crap for this (and I really hope I'm wrong) but I think we'll always be a .500 team with some 8 win years and 4 win years depending on schedule and rebuilding years.

You could say that for 100 of teams. I disagree, we are almost there on paper. The coaching needs to improve

Too bad they don't play games on paper. What does that even mean?

It really is not hard to understand...

On paper we have talent, the coaches need to find a plan to get the most out of those players to succeed. I like our talent and it will only get better... The issue is coaching rn

Ask me again after the CMU game. Right now we get a redo.

I also feel like if Terrel did not pull that stupid act, this has 38-17 all over it.

Terrell does not play defense and wasn't that hot on offense either for that matter...

He was just warming up. Our D looked a lot worse than it seemed. SWC had a post in another thread about it.

The defense gave up 10 points in regulation. Did the tackling suck? Sure. But understand what you are arguing.

On paper Eli should have not have twice as many rings as his brother- but I'm glad you like our talent.

Have you thought you might be over-thinking this and that SU met a perfect storm of lost linemen, a lost QB who the offense has been built around, and what the opposing coach said was the greatest game he remembers them playing? I'm a grade-A narcissist, but some of the hand-wringing on here as of late is the particularly stupefying idea that criticism = wisdom. There was certainly stuff to criticize, but I don't trust/expect a person at SyracuseFan.com to implement the solution.

I absolutely think if Terrel does not do that, this is a game we run away with. We are fans, people can give there opinion whatever it is. People are sharing thoughts... Not saying they totally have the solution...

A QB having some struggles in the first half of the opener and then having a huge 2nd half isn't uncommon. We've seen it here a few times. Top of my head, Nassib 2012, Nassib 2011, RJ 2003, McNabb 1998, Mason 1994.

Then why the angst at this point? Your OP, if I remember correctly, was about what would Shafer do. Let him do what he needs to do with the people he wants to do it with -- including Missy. And if that doesn't work out, I'll freak out with you.

Thats my thoughts. Just first game nerves, that would have settled

I just want to see some in game adjustments. Thats all. It's all good, I still feel crappy about that win.

I'm not hating on you -- is that what the kids say? -- and I left that game saying "I need better hobbies" -- but I'm not sure what you wanted Shafer or SU to adjust to. The offense (with Wilson) was new, and the defense, while they let them hang, didn't give up gaping plays (punt return excluded). The Nova QB was simply great.

At the end of the day I guess I'm at a loss for how to close the difference between what SU "fans" think they deserve and the reality of college football. I can say with some assuredness, though, if Scott Shafer can't charm you to come play for him, then you should really, really find new hobbies.

I still don't know what your point is man, that was a bad Performance, I still have hope but feeling very meh and upset!

People keep talking about all the talent...I think the jury is still out. Why don't the younger more talented guys get time? I mean our starting wrs are not exactly rice/Taylor...

My point is that you're being too dramatic -- I believe you said we roll with Hunt for 4Qs -- and that drama is easy, and also that people who think they're dramatic also think they're smart.

My wish is that we all close our traps a bit and see how things shake out. And barring the spectacular, thank God we have a nationally-recognized team to root for.
