Revenue sharing is generally what Providence is talking about. Providence does not have a football team, therefore they can allocate more of the 20 million ALL schools are allowed to spend on pay for play. That 20 million is for ALL sports.

NIL is stuff that is paid OUTSIDE of the school. It must go through a clearing house and technically can not be “pay for play”. There needs to be some type of business deal associated with it such as an appearance at a tailgate, a commercial etc.

Syracuse is sending, like most schools with football, a significant amount of their revenue share money to football. A smaller amount to Mens bbball an even smaller amount to women’s basketball and the rest split between the remaining Olympic sports.

When JB talks about “NIL” issues he is referring to OUTSIDE of revenue sharing that is paid by the school. Basketball has no collective (like football does). Basketball used to rely heavily on Orange United and its NIL deals. This is where JB is referring to what we don’t have a lot of money and we need more.
