Although there are ways of sugar-coating the question to legitimize it, it still hits two JB hot buttons:
1 - Playing Time - he's seen teams divided or players disillusioned over this issue in the past.  Would prefer to nip it in the bud instead of making how much did Roberson play into the new "thing" this season.  Whether making a scene that is seen by way more people than would've seen a regular coach-speak response is debatable.
2 - Why Didn't You ___ - He doesn't like these types of questions as they put him on the defensive and involve getting into hypotheticals, which can be misinterpreted and most coaches don't want to delve in to.
and possibly a 3rd - reporters asking nitpicky questions just to stir the pot and cause controversy.  I don't think that was the intent here, but we just laid a beating on the royalty of our new conference and he's fielding end of the bench questions?

Put the combination together and it's likely he barely listened to the question before going into reporter beatdown mode.
