Please forgive me in advance for posting this on here, but hoping for a little traffic for this post. I had so much fun at last week's Orangeyes Open and wanted to see if anyone wanted to continue the fun or if anyone couldn't make that and is looking for another good local charity tournament. For those of you who may not remember, I've been exec. director of the Silver Knight Foundation since last October. We are the non-profit arm of the local professional indoor soccer team, the Syracuse Silver Knights. Our mission is to help local disadvantaged kids in the Central NY community with free clinics, providing professional sports experiences and also educational programming in local schools & libraries. A great example of this is an ongoing clinic we are doing on the North side partnering with Hopeprint & funded this year by a grant from the Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation. For the last 4 and 1/2 weeks, we have done a free clinic with free soccer balls, t-shirts and water bottles for approx. 30-50 kids per night, twice a week. It has been really cool seeing them get excited about this and seeing kids of different nationalities work together through the use of sports. This is taking place this Sunday, Aug. 16th (sorry for the short notice) at the Links at Erie Village. If you are local, want to have some fun and support kids in our community, then please let me know as soon as possible. The cost is $100 per golfer or $400 for a foursome (you can sign up as an individual if you don't have a team). For that you get: Dunkin Donuts coffee & refreshments in the am; lunch at the turn and a steak bake dinner. This year we also will be having Southern Tier Brewing there sharing 4 of their finest beers and will have some Jim Beam / Suaza Tequila tastings during Cocktail Hour. We have plenty of great sports memorabilia + gift certificates and items from local CNY businesses. Not a golfer, no problem!! You can come post-golf (approx 4pm) for the Cocktail Hour / tastings/ silent auction / dinner for just $40. You can also help me promote it to any other local friends who might be interested. 9:30am - Registration, Dunkin Donuts and Driving Range open (free range balls) 11:00am - Shotgun Start 4:00pm - Cocktail Hour / Silent Auction / Tastings 5:00pm - Dinner Not local, but still want to help. We can always use hole sponsors for $100 tax-deductible donation (we are a 501(c)3 charity or if you have a unique item or experience that might be a silent or live auction item. For any questions, please contact me directly at 315-303-5132 or email rick@silverknightfoundation.org. Thanks for considering and hope to see you there! Rick
