I think Embiid like Jerami Grant is going to play hurt the rest of the season. Self may be saying Embiid is going to play publicly so the committee doesn't knock Kansas down to a 3 seed if Embiid is actually hurt. If Embiid can play then I think Kansas has the most talented team come tournament time. Without Embiid Kansas is probably an Elite 8 type team.

Kocked down to a 3 seed? They are almost a 3 seed now.

I still think the reason we lost to Butler was Karma... I hated the fact that JB lied about AO's injury. Love the man, hated that decision.

We beat Butler and we walk into the national championship game. With or withour AO.

I don't think JG is hurt anymore. He played 35 minutes in a double-digit win and looked great, IMHO. I saw nothing yesterday that indicated to me that JG is hurt anymore. I know backs can be complicated, but sometimes it is just a muscle strain, and they can heal. And he looks healed.

Also love that he gets a 4 days off... i would sit him from practive today and tomorrow. Let him practice Wed and Thurs.

But if he said he was out Arinze would not been able to travel with the team. I think that was the main factor is his decision.

Well they announced he's going for a 2nd opinion, so there's that.

It could end up being the same situation come Sunday, though.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw the "news" about Embiid from Self. Its nothing more than posturing for seeding.

If that kid had to fly to California to see a specialist it must be pretty serious. They don't have orthopedists in Kansas City or St. Louis?

I think it's posturing. And no guarantee the commitee would make adjustment for it. Just a lot of speculation.

I personally think the committee will just look at W/L, no matter who played this year.

Kansas doesn't need posturing. I'm convinced they could of went 17-14
along with Duke and they both would still be ranked in the top 25.

^This. Reading that story conjured the same thought I have every time I hear that a baseball player is going to see Dr. James Andrews: "Uh oh. That's not good."

It was the first thing that popped into my head also but it is tough to tell with back injuries.

JB, on the other hand, absolutely knew that Onuaku was not coming back.

After Onuaku, I will never say a word about another coach telling the world his player will be back.

BTW, considering that I've pulled or torn just about every muscle in my body at one time or another, I know how long it takes for this stuff to really fully heal (versus just feel better)...and two weeks ain't it and March is really grueling.

Absolutely. Think about what they would actually say if they really expected him back for the S16. Probably something like "we're gonna rest him this week as an extra precaution & expect him back for the NCAA's". Then think about what they'd say if he's probably done - pretty much exactly what they just said.

Don't think there is an y doubt. And look what happened with us and AO; it worked.

I dismissed that until I heard he was out for the conference tournament and early rounds of teh NCAAT. Now it's pretyt much my feeling too.

If they can't win without him it means that he's done for the season.

Agreed. First thought was he is not coming back and they are posturing with the selection committee.

only ones that specialize in large animals - horses and cows mainly.
