OMG, John Terry falling on his ass and getting nutmegged by Suarez twice, including for that goal off of Essien, was just painful to watch. Terry was wretched. Ivanovic was not much better, and Turnbull in goal couldn't kick it as far as the midfield stripe on clearances, one of which only went about 30 yards, and got volleyed right back into a goal.
For a team that could have gotten a top 4 spot with a pair of wins to close out the season - and just a draw by Newcastle and a loss by Spurs - that was a really, really disappointing effort. Terry was equally bad a few times early in the season, when AVB was first trying to get the team to play a higher line defensively. JT got caught and didn't have the recovery speed to get back with attackers, so he has played deeper and deeper on defense, to keep the action in front of him.
While he does have surprisingly good technical skills and can use either foot, his recovery speed is catching up with him. I'll bet that this cost Terry a spot on the England team for this summer's Euro 2o12. An utter embarrassment.
