Nova is very good. Typical Nova. Everyone can handle, shoot and defend.

Gonna be real hard to beat them.

Because you're probably not as good as you look on your best nights, nor as bad as you look on your worst nights, especially early in the season.

Remember Nova had us down 18 or something in the dome last year before we came back to beat them (in a not oft talked about game but was probably one of our best performances of the season). This year could be exceedingly awful, but it will provide a great learning experience for KJ. That will be really nice for him to play against a team like Nova before seeing Duke and Looeyville.

You have to figure after that 1-2-2 that Iowa threw at us and how we reacted that the staff is going to work on that particular press (Jay Wrights favorite) and how to break it on a regular basis until that game.

BTW Nova at least probed for an easy shot every time they broke VCU's press and they broke the press by being aggressive. That is why they won easily and its the best way to attack aggressive pressing teams IMO. Even a passive 1-2-2 like Nova uses is at a disadvantage if you aggressively pass past the 1-2 level. That's when you need to attack which gets you easy baskets and fouls.

Two different teams from the 1st to the 2nd half's. Nova played great def and shot the 3 pointer and was always looking for the best shot. IF the team that played the 2nd half shows up against the cuse we will have a long night. The VCU center caused them some problems as Nova is under sized. I think we will need a little Christmas present to win this game.
