Are the Thompsons gonna Breakout against SU?

They're definitely going to dominate possession in the game. Cuse will need to slow the game down and try to counter that.

Ugh, that was my one worry about this game, could be a bit of an offensive shoot out as I dont think Albany's D is good at all. That being said our D isnt exactly looking stellar especially at Goalie.

Are you suggesting that SU play stall ball?

I would rather lose 20-6 than play the style that I watched MD play last year in Gillette. Oh Lord

Actually based on how they played last year I dont think they will slow it down that much, thats not the Thompsons style at all, not saying there going to run and gun like Virginia but might no be the snails pace we saw from Maryland, Hopkins, Nova etc etc

I haven't seen them play a ton but when i do it always seems to be alot of them walking around while defensemen hammer away on their arms. That strange keep away game they do.

Stuff like this:

I first saw Lyle play at the U19 world games in 2008, he was 15 and had to be given dispensation to play! he could play for the U19s in this years games in Finland along with OCC's Randy Staats who was also 15 at the time, bothw here among the Iroquois best players!
Great players but they can be frustrated!

What were your thoughts after seeing the game? I thought Cuse really took the Thompson's out of their game. That period at the end of the 1st period where one of them stood behind the cage and just got checked over and over was brutal to watch.

So much for that.

The defense wasn't bad and the goalies both made some very good saves. Dominated after a rough start and put it out of reach.

I thought overall the D was pretty good, Albany's offense right now is to much sit back and watch the Thompsons go to work with a little Resitaris sprinkled in. I thought our long poles and close D guys did a good job not allowing the Thompsons to get a lot going one on one, the checking you reference is a Lyle favorite he does it to show off his stick skills which are sick by the way but that move is gonan get him killed in D1 A by some defensemen whos just gonna clean his clock. One thing I will say though is that our D got lucky as a couple times the Thompsons had good looks but tried to be to fancy and cost themselves 1-2 goals especially early. I still have big concerns about this D versus a slow down quick crisp passing team or a team with a legite star with good support around him ie Pannell, Ranagan, Stanwick.

I thought the goalie play was good borderlining on great for Lerman. Only concern I have is how Lerman responds when hes not seeing the ball well. Can he try to slow the bleeding or will it turn into Maryland Part 2. Cant have him letting in 6-7 goals a half versus Hopkins and UVA with this young team becuase it wont recover. I actually was a little more concerned with the Offense very sloppy in the second half and left at least 2-4 goals out there including a couple wide open point blank shots. Still loved what I saw from Maltz (hes my sleeper guy this year Orange Extremes to) Cometti, Jo Jo, and Lecky. We really need to get this offense going it needs to carry us some games and the potential is there. Would like to see more from Eilers thought he had a bad game and Colin Donahue looked lost as well.

It might have just been me but I thought the overall ball movement and stick skills in the Ohio State v Denver and Jacksonville v Navy games were better then the Albany v Cuse game.
