I don't get it. ESPN actually thinks that people will watch a sports version of Morning Joe with Mike a Greenberg and Charissa Thompson?

The guy is so cookie cutter and yet ESPN thinks he is a star. Women aren't going to change from Today/GMA/Morning Joe for Mike Greenberg and men aren't going to watch Mike freaking Greenberg say nothing interesting and give a$$ kissing interviews.

ESPN really doesn't get it's old audience when it was successful.
The network is so bad now outside live sports.

No. But I don't watch any TV in the morning.

Of course not.

This is another embarrassing move for the former world wide leader.

The only show I've ever watched on ESPN this decade is Jalen and Jacoby. And that was better when it was on YouTube.

Unless someone takes me captive and uses the show as a means of torture, I won't be watching.

No that's what the off topic board is for.

It will be just a blip on the radar of their embarrassing shows.

I understand criticism of ESPN, but if it is no longer the "world wide leader," what is? No other sports network is even in the ballpark in terms of television ratings.
This. Also, what are they supposed to do?.. Run 8 back to back episodes of SC every morning when people just watch highlights on YouTube/Facebook?

They could probably chill on the politics a bit as their audience leans very much conservative and some of the networks more prominent talking heads are very much not but aside from that, they're moving to formats that have been successful for others lately in hopes to stay with the times.

I guess if you like listening to him talk about Lebron, the 90's Bulls, or the Jets you would go...

certainly its the world wide leader in general sports news.

but as ive mentioned many times before...if I want anything baseball related...I go right to MLBN.

football??...NFLN.

etc etc...

SNY's Sports Night...basically covers me anyway, but I digress...

however sportscenter...well was my favorite show for about 35 years, now its a joke.

when I think of ESPN...I think of sportscenter.

maybe I'm wrong for thinking like that, who knows...id rather watch ESPN-news for an hour.

does espn have games??...yes.

but a game is a game.

put Cuse or whomever I want to see on the Oprah Network...ill find it.

granted, 99.9% of the board here wont...but ive long established the ridiculousness of that lot.

its just not the 'world wide leader' for sports anymore.

them firing 75% of the staff proves it.

This is it 100% spot on.

ESPN used to be the gold standard.
SportsCenter, NFL primetime Sunday night, Baseball Tonight, College Gameday.

Now only college game day is still okay. The rest all suck and their political stuff has ruined a lot of stuff for me. I don't want hottakes from ESPN. Athletes have a right to say this stuff anchors on TV I could care less.

yeah, the political bullshit is a real put off.

I wasn't going to mention it, but I agree.

I don't mind the political talk since most of the sports analysis remains pretty shallow (e.g.,"this team needs to take care of the football"). Even though I have been watching it my whole life, i never played organized football. There is so much that I don't know. Unfortunately, the experts on tv/radio rarely teach me anything. I understand that it's because they don't want to bore a mass audience. If the sports talk is going to be "is Lebron/Brady the greatest" than I would rather talk about the lack of black head coaches and the exploitation of college athletes.

I used to live on ESPN. At home, in the car. I just wondered if it was getting older that turned me off to it. But I don't even keep ESPN Radio on the SiriusXM favorites anymore. MLBN, NFLN, College Sports, they're all there.

I can't remember the last time I watched SportsCenter.

I turn it on for a game I want to see. (or hear in the car). That's literally it.

And yeah, I'd rather watch Oprah take her morning dump than watch the Greenberg show. I just don't get the draw of that guy. At. All.

I do still like the ESPN website though, and visit it often. So there's that.

I mean, people tune in to watch Mike Greenburg speak into a microphone for 4 hours each morning, so I'm sure there will be some sort of audience for this.

Espn has ruined everything by trying to do too much, College Gameday used to be a must watch when it was an hour long, now its 3 hours, who has time for a 3 hour pregame show? Sportscenter was a must watch, I don't even know what it is anymore.

ESPN jumped the shark once they decided to make top ten plays politically correct instead of actually showing the top ten plays

Besides watching ESPN for sports, the only other reason I view any of its content is due to NBA (Zach Lowe, et al) or 30 for 30.

Otherwise, I'm with KaiserUEO - I go to other places for coverage of the Giants, Cuse, etc.
