Are we down more defensive linemen

Jacquez didn't play yesterday.

Fadil Diggs
Maraad Watson
Chase Simmons
Rashard Perry
KingJoseph Edwards
Isaiah Hastings
Elijah Fuentes-Cundiff
Thanks for the list. Was Jacquez dressed?

almost everything that went wrong in the first half went right in the second half yesterday except for the defensive line. However, I do not blame the players. This is a coaching issue.

When we had a four man line or rushed five, good things happened all day long, and when we went to our three man line or prevent defense, we got gashed all day. Unfortunately, despite the results, we went with the three man line on probably 75% of the snaps.

On obvious/likely run downs we had a defensive tackle, and 245 pound David O and 250 pound chase Simmons on the line. They were getting pummeled at the line of scrimmage.

Finally, the use of Diggs at middle linebacker or spy is perplexing. He is too slow for the position, and does not shoot the gaps consistently, often just plays on his heels, and not quick enough to track down the quarterback once he scrambled. He needs to be on the line of scrimmage.

I think he is a better MLB than he is an edge guy though. He collapsed the pocket on many plays and he ran down a few key plays outside. I think he is faster than he is quick.

I think the issue is the amount of healthy lineman. If Wilson/Jobity were around I bet you'd see more normal fronts. 3-man isn't ideal but the guys won't be as gassed in the 4th Q.

I think the D would be better if we could play 4 man fronts.

We are making due with no pass rush and scheming to control the big play.

But that first half was a clown show by the DBs

Barron should be the spy

Don’t think he played yesterday.

Respectfully disagree here. He has been playing in the MLB “spot“ but not really playing MLB. (not reading, reacting, blitzing, backpedaling to Tampa 2 look, etc). Lacks lateral quickness.

Only has 5 TOTAL tackles in last 3 games. Healthy Wax averages 7 per game. If the goal is to be stronger up the middle while resting the DL, he is not tackling as expected.

just Looks too passive. Still have not seen him hit a running back in the hole on a read/react the way Wax, Mikel Jones, etc would.
