Since the 2013 recruiting has been going kind of slow, I thought I would step it back a notch and talk about 2012. If I am counting right, I think we still have a couple open spots. I know we have a ton of walk ons, but I'm all in favor in taking a chance on a couple kids this year if something happens to fall our way. I realize with these stupid graduations rules, it doesn't work in our favor to take a chance on someone who might not develop and end up leaving, but I think it's important we use all 13 scholarships since you never know when you find a diamond in the rough and could always use the depth.

I know there are not a lot of 2012 guys left that we were involved with, but could there be some surprises still. I fully understand JB's position if he chooses to not fill them, but I don't think we are going to need to save these for 2013. We should still have at least three to fill next year, not counting these two.

Save em for 13 and 14 classes. Give a couple walk ons with good grades schollys to help APR

with the APR there is no reason to use those schollies on anyone but walk-ons

The walk ons are probably better options even basketball wise than what's available for 2012 lol.

I know what you and the others are saying, but it's crazy that the APR now plays a big part of how a school recruits. It's crazy not to take a chance on someone who might be a player a few years down the road. I look at a guy like Howard Triche who played a total of 156 minutes combined his first two years at Syracuse before becoming a starter his last two seasons. Assuming Triche was not from Syracuse but was someone like Greg Davis from Tulsa, Ok, would he have not been recruited by Syracuse.

I know it's not apples and oranges, but Cuse had a few guys who didn't play for a few seasons. Look at Danny Schayes. He played a little more than Triche and Davis but was stuck behind Louie and Booie. Didn't start until he was a senior and then became an NBA 1st round pick and played like 18 or 19 seasons. In today's day and age would he have even stuck around at the Cuse for four seasons.

The more I think about this, the more I am thinking the APR is going to ruin college basketball more than the early entry rule will.

I see what you are saying but the times have changed and you have to adapt.

I love Scoop and KJo, but in these times if you have lots of seniors, you are doing something wrong.
