A reasoned response is: we only have 3 wins despite our top 30 defense because our offense hasn't scored points in the red zone (despite moving the ball between the 30's), had critical mistakes and bad play calling at bad times. There have been bright spots like the play of 3-4 freshman, Cam Lynch, Hickey, West and Reddish. Injuries have played a part in the last couple of games - though not the only reason - it's undeniable that we don't have the depth to overcome it. It's also worthy to note that we've played some of the top defenses in the country and haven't had a bye week in nine games. Shafer has them playing very hard, despite the grind and record - which is really impressive. The kids have shone a resiliency that is a reflection of both their character and the jobs the coaches have done to develop relationships. Sadly, at the end of the season - we will have too many losses, too many self-inflicted wounds, and too many outside issues to overcome.
