The SMU game is something of an existential crisis for me.

I always want SU to win. Go Orange. I also expect that we're going to get big announcements and move on to the next chapter once we're out of the tournament. So it feels to me kind of like when the Bills play the Eagles. No matter the outcome I am both happy and sad.

I can't imagine I'm alone there and wanted to open a discussion on it.

I always root for SU to win.

Red's not winning 5 games in 5 days, and the problem will take care of itself.

We can't lose to someone named "Boopie".

I get what the OP is suggesting -- there's a part of me that just wants this to be over so the page can be turned.

But I never, ever root for Syracuse to lose.

I dont mind seeing red take Andy down with him

id also say that if we werent like 98% certain who we were hiring i would feel like every day counts but that seemingly isn't very important

Even when my Bills were in the playoff drought and could get a higher draft pick by losing and it made logical sense for me to want that, I could never cheer for them to lose.

So yes I will be cheering for a win tomorrow. But I will be more than ready to move on to the next phase once the season ends.

We should want SU to win the ACCT. The decision on Red has already been made. Do you really think just because we win the ACCT that he would be kept with a 6-12 ACC record and 20-16 overall? If you are that scared, then root for us to make the ACCT Final and then lose. That makes us 19-17 and out of the NCAAT while giving us a little but of fun this week.

I was once so mad that I rooted against Syracuse to confuse the basketball gods. It worked; we won. Yes, I'm going to root for Syracuse. I'm not not going to be emotionally invested in it.

I’m not saying I’d root against SU. I agree, never. I’d love for Red to go down swinging.

More like, bothered by the conflict and the situation as a whole. It’s a strange vibe, hard to put into words; there will be some sense of relief to close the door on this chapter.

It wouks be nice for Red and the team to win a couple of games and go out on a high note and with a winning record. It doesn’t change the fact that he will be let go at the end of the season.

Keatts won 23 games and made it in the NCAAT in year 6 at NC State. Year 7 he went 17-14 and 9-11 in the ACC, before winning the ACCT and going to the Final4 - they finished with 26 wins. He came back for an 8th year, they won 12 games and he got fired.

Keatts was more successful than Red his first 3 years, he had over 20 wins each year. In year 1 they finished 3rd in the ACC and made it to the tournament. Dipped in year 4 and 5 (11 wins and 14 wins). Before 23 wins in year 7.

I think Keatts only came back because they made the F4 run … I imagine Red would ve similar. Keatts had accomplished a ton more than Red had but even that F4 run only bought him 1 year
