[I]Ben Williams continues to be the steal of the century for the Syracuse University lacrosse team, a guy nobody in the lacrosse world knew much, if anything, about three short months ago.

Williams, a sophomore transfer from Holy Cross, won 21 of 25 face-offs Sunday night to propel the No. 3 Orange (3-0) to a hard-fought 12-9 victory over No. 15 Army (3-1) before a Carrier Dome crowd of 2,561.The performance was on par with his 17-for-20 effort in an opening 21-7 victory over Siena but was even more critical, as Syracuse was tested mightily throughout by what could be Joe Alberici’s best Army team in his nine-plus seasons as head coach.
