Art Briles and Baylor

From what I've read, I can't imagine a lawyer who couldn't sue the bejeesus out of Baylor and Briles on behalf of that girl.

Agreed. It's a big IF, but if Briles knew the full history he might not be able to hold on to his job.

After Peterson's remarks today not sure how big an IF it is now.

was what they did illegal?, immoral, improper, shortsited. what would the lawsuit be for?

I would believe if they knew that they were allowing a person with a violent history into their institution that they would be responsible if that person committed a violent act. They have a fiduciary duty to provide a safe environment for their students. I'm not a lawyer, but I would suspect this would be a lawyer's angle.

By the way the rapist got six months. Don't they send jaywalkers to the gas chamber in Texas? A rapist gets 6 months??! Oh and Briles is a disgrace

I believe it has something to do with Title IX and their investigation after learning about the incident.

Baylor athletics is a death penalty waiting to happen.

I just watched the 30 for 30 on SMU two nights ago and that story was absolutely amazing what their Gov. did in the whole process. Craig James from now on I will have to laugh at him if he ever tries to talk serious on the state of college athletics after that

is that an illegal act? what if the guy had committed the previous act 20 years ago? I dont think they should have let the kid into school but was doing so really something they can be sued for?

what if the kid was not an athlete and just someone who wanted to go to school would SU keep every kid out who had this back ground? would they even know?

What are the odds he doesn't do all 180 days?

Civil court has a much lower bar in determining guilt. That's why OJ was guilty in civil proceedings when he was found innocent in criminal court.

I think the issue here is not so much about the legal ramifications for this kid, but moreso that university environments usually err on the side of major conservative when it comes to these types of situations. it is offensive to think that Baylor didn't know what the issue was with this kid. then he comes to Baylor and gets accused of the same thing he was dismissed from boise over. its disgusting and if I were an attorney and wanted to grandstand I would say that the football program was knowingly harboring a criminal. they failed to protect their students in a socially acceptable way. I think briles is in some trouble on this.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on the likelihood that Peterson called Briles to tell him information about Ukwuachu that Boise State didn't want to put in a legal document (like the transfer form that Briles is referring to). I think Briles knew but he's covering up now because the way he found out was through a phone call.

Oh get off your moral high horse. Students with criminal histories get admitted all the time. I dare say even those with violent histories remain on football teams. By the way, to my knowledge this guy never played one down of football at Baylor.

are you kidding? please provide examples of violent offenders getting admitted to college campuses "all the time". yes he never played a down, that is the point, they harbored him hoping he could.

there are really 2 issues.. one is do you want a kid on the team that has a history of this kind of act and do you want to give him a scholarship. the other is does the school have a policy of not admitting anyone who has committed this type of thing into the school. it wouldnt surprise me if almost every school has someone going there who has done much the same thing. as to whether they have a scholie who knows. most schools have a code of conduct but we know that people who have committed murder have gone on and gotten degree's and i am sure other felony's as well

cornell has a program to help 100 inmates a year get a college associates degree while in the maximum security prison in auburn. you dont think some of them end up going on to another college to get a BS?

so are you saying that our football team right now houses a felon? I have not heard of any college setting that will admit a felon, can you expand on statement that a murderer has gotten a degree?
