What a heartbreaking and devastating moment for Syracuse athletics. My deepest prayers go out to the Jones family. They’ve always been my favorite athletic family—Jon Jones is not only my favorite MMA fighter but my favorite athlete of all time, and his brothers are both local legends and NFL stars. It’s hard to even process something this tragic.
I never had the chance to see Lawrence Moten play, being on the younger side, but when I first fell in love with Syracuse football at just eight years old, it was Chandler Jones and Arthur Jones who gave me that spark. To see this dark cloud over a family that has meant so much to Syracuse and to me personally as a fan is truly unreal.
