You're not moving the "best" home basketball game of the year down to NYC. You're not relocating a game against Geogretown or Nova or UConn from the Dome to MSG. Or UNC / Duke. But SU will be relocating the best home football game every other season. When SU moves to the ACC and starts playing a 9 game conference schedule, they will only have room for 3 OOC games. Only ONE of those games will be against a BCS team, with the other two being against CUSA / MAC / FCS fodder. In other words, it looks like SU will NEVER play another big name BCS team in Syracuse. You'll never get Nebraska, or Oklahoma, or Florida, or Auburn, or Ohio State, or Michigan in the Dome again (except for maybe PSU in 2020, unless that gets cancelled). In even numbered years, SU will play their 1 BCS game in the Meadowlands. In odd numbered years SU will play the same BCS team on the road. Hard to sell season tickets to CNY locals when all they'll ever see again is table scraps. Especially when the team is struggling to get over .500. FSU will visit once every 2 years. Miami and Va Tech will come once every 6 years. None of the other ACC match-ups really move the meter. It wouldn't surprise me if CNY'ers cancelled their season tickets and just bought single game seats when FSU or Miami visit, and stayed home to watch the rest on TV. There are always plenty of good seats available. It's not like there's a 5 year waiting list for season tickets, and if you give them up you go to the back of the line. Maybe use the ticket money for a road trip to NJ every other year to see the sexy opponents. It also wouldn't surprise me if this proposed 20 year Meadowlands deal went away. Remember, at the time this was being discussed, SU was a BE team who needed 5 OOC games a year (with 2-3 against BCS teams). Now we'll only need 1 BCS game a season.
