Syracuse had an 80% renew rate from last season and then added a few thousand new season ticket sales. so totals are about the same from last year

how many canceled in one section and renewed in the cheap seats was not being tracked from what i understood.

they thought these were good numbers as we came of a bowl season two years ago so the excitement still might be there.

thats what i was told anyways

i can only go by their marketing guy and what he told me when i talked to him yesterday.those were the numbers as of friday afternoon.

he said they were about the same. he said people are starting to buy in this past week:noidea:

those were his numbers as he said seasons there were about 20,000 sold ...what was last years numbers?

I don't know the exact numbers but even if you take your 20k number and your 80% renew number, that is 4k down. So if they sold 3k new, they are still down.

I heard the same as well. The numbers aren't good at all.

Sounds like what was being said last year at this time. And the year before. And the...you get the point. Numbers will end up about the same, but we'll bring in more total $ for home games thanks to NYC.

Depends. How much are we getting for Metlife? Did SU have to buy X tickets? Because sales are horrific and we got no help from the NYC metro "fans". There is also a cost to team travel as well as loss in revenue at the Dome.

We sound like rutgers a couple years ago who thought they gad some windfall coming for that Army game. But they forgot the negative side of the ledger also.

I guess we'll find out soon if Gross completely screwed the program with these games then.

Oh I am sure we will make money on the game. It's a matter of how much and was it worth it.

"The NYC Metro Fan", if this were basketball maybe but with the program being down its just like the locals a few diehards will go but most will sit this one out. Hopefully we can stop with the myth that SU somehow has 20-30K alumni in NYC that will come out for a football game.

An extra 5k NYC fans looks good in MSG or great at the rac. Not so much at a football game.

I dunno, im bringing 20 recent SU grads with me, that aren't going to be going to the Dome for a game this year...

Yeah, I haven't bought tickets yet and neither have the 10-20 people that are interested in going, waiting to see if the market changes as the game gets closer. I think if we beat Northwestern you'll see ticket sales go up.

Bees is just hoping to be right. As you said, if we beat Northwestern, they'll be a nice Pinstripe Bowl type showing from the metro fans. Will it be 50k? No, we aren't a state school. But certainly we will have a nice crowd. Lots of buzz from the city alums that i know. Now if we lose to Northwestern? Eh, not so good. Bees likes to beat up on the metro area fans but its the exact same deal with the CNY locals. Same fan base, just different locales.

that there's no support from the NYC fans.

Based on current sales, there isn't. It's abysmal. It's not what I "hope" to be right about.

As abysmal as season ticket sales. It's why your constant belly aching Over this issue (and others) can't be taken seriously. TGD is taking a bigger payday for the good of the program.

You don't think I'm serious?

What I don't get about this thread...

retro talks to someone that would know, guy says we are about the same as last year, more or less, yet we get the typical.. "sales are way down this year" from the guy that cancelled his seats because it makes him feel vindicated and allows one to puff their chest out a bit as if they were cutting edge or one of the cool guys, yet said person is on the internet discussing Syracuse football everyday, so flucked up. It's like having an identity crisis or just being cheap. Maybe both, all a bit schitzo really.

On top of that, we have the resident USC curmudgeon posts, Gross screwed me!!!

I haven't bought my tix yet to MetLife because I am watching the pricing. The face value is way too high, imo and I have a feeling I can pick up a few seats on the cheap - I may jump at the group-on deal, but I also might wait a little longer as I think the final price will be closer to $30 per ticket. I have a feeling that a lot of NYC-area fans are doing the same. Plus, as others have said, a good showing against NW will help bring in some fans last minute as well.

Dude...if you honestly think that the metro area "fans" are anything close to the local fans you are insane.

You're right, the CNYers love their football team. They love it so much that it will be at 75% capacity for the opening game of the season.

And I'll bet a dollar that you've never been to a Big East Tourney and you didn't bother going to the Pinstripe Bowl.

The Syracuse fan base, as a whole, does a mediocre (I'll be kind) job of supporting their football team and a really, really good job of supporting their bball team. I don't care where the game is played, thats just reality.
