that Red Autry scored 31 points in the second half (with one OT) against Missouri in an NCAA game.
Oh yeah, no doubt. The kid was GREAT. Not taking anything away at all, but just think of someone doing that in half.sure, but Buddy had some jaw-dropping, you-got-to-be-kidding-me shots last night.
If that's the standard for greatness, nearly every player in the Basketball Hall of Fame falls short.that Red Autry scored 31 points in the second half (with one OT) against Missouri in an NCAA game.

I NEVER said that. Going there is tortured logic, at best.If that's the standard for greatness, nearly every player in the Basketball Hall of Fame falls short.
It was a strange statement to make at this time so people have to guess at the point you are trying to make and why.I NEVER said that. Going there is tortured logic, at best.
No more tortured or irrelevant than this thread.I NEVER said that. Going there is tortured logic, at best.
The only point was, that as GREAT as Buddy was, Red did that in one half. They are not mutually exclusive. It was a strange statement to make at this time so people have to guess at the point you are trying to make and why.
Funny. That’s what I like best about Buddy. No one is going to take this game (and these past few games) from Buddy. He's a bad, bad, bad man right now.
I love Red. Love him. I remember his Scholastic Sports America about him.
But Buddy is on some NBA Jam-level "I'm sticking this bucket in your face even if you have Kawhi on me" shots right now. The **ONLY** thing I wish is that Buddy were more bombastic.
The dude drills a million half court threes, rips the soul from the other team and it looks like he's going to sit down with a coffee and the sport section. Can you IMAGINE if that were Devo?
But why is that even a point though. The only point was, that as GREAT as Buddy was, Red did that in one half. They are not mutually exclusive.
I actually think the opposite. As he continues to murder the opposition with soul crushing shots from all over, he also shyly smiles as he helps your player off the floor and apologizes for knocking them down.No one is going to take this game (and these past few games) from Buddy. He's a bad, bad, bad man right now.

It's an interesting and minor point that could have been expressed in any of the numerous Buddy Boeheim threads on the board. It probably didn't warrant its own thread. But why is that even a point though.

I am so, so happy for Buddy. I think Covid took about a half a season of this away from us, but when you see a young man come in with a target on his back for non-believers/“haters” solely do to his lineage, with racists like the guy on the SDSU board who thought SU would lose because we played “too many white guys”, it is joyful to him emerge so far beyond a functional guy playing for his dad.
It seemed like his teammates all cheer for him and genuinely like him which, with his struggles and his dad as coach, speaks volumes about who he is as a young man and a teammate.
Also very happy for Julie. I am sure she is aware of, if not has heard, the naysayers. It is so far away from her control, and that is her little boy, no matter how old he is.
